Here are the benefits I’ve found so far:
1. Having access to all the apps is nice.
2. Using the cloud to save files works pretty good. I’ve done stuff in photoshop at work then was able to open the psd project at home. I think the newer version of the cloud is supposed to work even better in this aspect
3. I usually used to upgrade every time Adobe had upgrade offers so the $49 a month for me isn’t a bad deal.I know a lot of people are up in arms about loss of perpetual license, but I for one don’t mind the new cloud model. If Adobe could offer tiers of service, such as a production premium version for $29.99 a month, that would be even better.

Thanks. I’m not familiar with that, but I’ll look into it.

According to an email I received from AJA, they have stopped supporting updates for the Kona 3. It was a great card. 6 years is pretty amazing for a piece of hardware. I bit the bullet and ordered the Kona 3G yesterday, just to make sure I can stay up-to-date. It does 4k output, so they assured me it would be around a while. If you know of anyone that want’s to purchase a used, very functional Kona 3 with breakout box, let me know.

I just installed the Nvidia GTX680 for Mac in my MacPro and it screams. I don’t do much editing in Final Cut Pro X, but I did do some test editing in it and it seemed to work smoothly. In Premiere Pro the GTX680 is truly amazing.

Thanks for the info Oliver. Im trying to future proof by buying a 4k card. As far as Thunderbolt, that sounds like a good idea, however I currently haven’t any computers with thunderbolt. Im kinda In a pickle, I guess. Sounds like Decklink cards are pretty good. They are a lot cheaper than Aja Cards. I’ve always had very good experiences with my Aja products, though, and I’ve always been able to talk with someone there.

Hey Oliver
Aja has stopped supporting the Kona 3. That means no more driver updates. If I wanted to never upgrade my software, I would be ok, but. Since I’ll want to upgrade to CS7 when it comes out, I’m sure Ill need whatever the latest drivers are for it to work.

I have the exact same deck. If you have another program, such as Final Cut Pro, you could capture through that program then import the footage into Premiere. I’ve had a lot of issues digitizing footage into Premiere so I always digitize in Final Cut Pro then import into Premiere. Hopefully they will fix the issue in CS7.

Any Chance of Adobe to come to Orlando to demo the new Premiere Pro?

For the Heck of it, I plugged my HD monitor into the HDMI port out of the GTX680. I went into Premiere Pro Playback settings and selected Monitor 3 as my playback and voila, Playback monitor. I just had to tell MacOSX to treat monitor 3 as a 1080p video monitor. Pretty Cool!
