I have the GTX680 Mac Edition installed in my MacPro 3,1 and it works like its a new computer. I also had the Hacked GTX570, which was a great card, but it does seem like the GTX680 works faster and a lot less buggy in Premiere Pro.

Yeah Walter. I’ve gotten really good life out of my 2 kona 3 cards. Been using them for 5 or 6 years. upgraded from the Kona 2 and the Original IO Box. Aja is a great company with really good support. I guess I’m surprised they supported the Kona 3 as long as they did. Guess I’ll have to look at my upgrade options. Kona 3G is looking good, especially since it supports 4K. Not sure if I’ll be getting a 4K monitor any time soon, but at least I know it’s possible.

Yeah I saw that. I have a feeling that’s referring to the Kona3G and not the Kona 3. Aja has been great. I guess eventually they have to stop support. The Kona 3 is a 6+ year old card, even though it still works great.

Hey Tom,
I get your point too. I guess my recourse would be to switch to whatever software is good at the time. Just remember a few years ago, Avid was on top and Final Cut pro came in and cleaned up. If Adobe decided to get greedy, some other company would come out with a cheaper/better solution. I’ve worked on Media100, Avid, Final Cut pro, and now Adobe. I really have no loyalty to software. It’s whatever is affordable and works at the time. Currently it seems to be Premiere Pro. I really like how Adobe seems to be listening to it’s customers. Avid, Media100 and Apple, never seemed to be good at that. As evidenced by the fact someone from Adobe responded to this thread.

I’m using the cloud. In years past, I would always upgrade my production bundle software every year anyways, so at least this way I get to play with new software I normally wouldn’t play with. It doesn’t bother me that I don’t actually ‘own’ the software in perpetuity. I wont have much use for a CS6 License in 10 years when they are on CS20.

April 11, 2013 at 5:12 pm in reply to: Anyone upgrade instead of clean install Mountain Lion?I always do Clean installs when going from one OS to the Next. If it’s just an update such as 10.8.2 to 10.8.3 I’ll download a combo installer and update, but in years past when I haven’t done a clean install I always seem to run into issues. You could always make a clone of your system drive the way it is now, do a non clean update and if you have issues go back to your clone.

If you have a MacPro you can skip step 2.

I found this one. It seems a little overwhelming at first but once you get through it, you realize how easy it was:
