Macs can read and write to ntfs drives if you have this app:

You’ve touched on one of the weakest aspects of Premiere. It’s buggy and slow and it never gets better.

Meanwhile, the marketing push is now in full swing bloviating on all of the new and sexy features with the upcoming release but yet again bugs that have been problematic for quite some time remain ignored.

Adobe, why is it so difficult to correctly incorporate software features that have been standard NLE offerings for well over a decade? Could there be anything more basic than media managing a project?

If you eventually transition to 4k footage you’ll start filling up SSD drives mighty fast. Spinning drives will serve you well until the prices come down on SSD’s.

far left button just below your timecode readout in the timeline panel. Turn that on and nests will come in as nests instead of clips.

[Shawn Miller] “This also happened to two friends of mine earlier this month, except they opted to switch from Apple to Windows PCs, again it was all about the hardware.”

I think that’s the crux of the trend away from Apple. The versatility of options on the PC side simply can’t be matched by the current Apple product line.

Barry, I wish i could give you some advice but 1) I’ve never used Encore and 2) I haven’t made or even operated a DVD in at least 5 years.

While VLC is certainly a versatile program, using youtube to create chapter markers sure seems much simpler – on both the creation side as well as the user end.

[Bill Davis] “Dang, you are correct. I forgot about all the editors that switch back and forth between the Macs and PCs sitting side by side on their desks.

I have a dual system but I’ll confess that I spend 98% of my working time on the PC side.

I also think that if Resolve lives up to the hype it’s been receiving that it might be a real player. The process of prepping projects in Premiere to send to a Resolve colorist gets old fast.

Charlie, thanks for the link to the documentation.

And while it’s nice to have the official information, what remains infuriating about Apple is that the company is on the verge of releasing an OS update that includes a complete overhaul of their file system structure and yet the documentation is relegated to the developer section of their site.
