    Thank you, Gary.

One more question please. Does the ATEM 1 M/E Production Studio 4K have an Aux output that lets me do a Center Cut of the full image for use in non-wide screen projection?

I couldn’t be sure when checking on the BMD web site.

    I appreciate your help.

  • Thank you, friends. All is working. I now have the BlackMagic options in audio and video playback within Premiere Pro. Whatever the precise solution was, the latest 10.1.2 Desktop Video version is now installed and in the right order.
    I appreciate this so much!

  • Hello, Peter —

In that “Common” folder under the “Plug-ins” sub-folder, this is all that I see.

What do I need to do to next? In the 7.0 folder (Media Core) there is nothing at all.

  • Thank you for your reply to me. I carefully did each of these things in the order shown, and I have the indentical scenario as before.

    1. Uninstalled BlackMagic Driver
    2. Uninstalled Premiere Pro CC
    3. Downloaded and installed BlackMagic Driver 10.1.1
    3. Installed Premiere Pro CC

In my Mac System Settings, BlackMagic Audio is selected as the OUTPUT
In the Adobe Premiere Pro CC Preferences under “Playback” the “Audio Device” choices available are “Adobe Desktop Audio” (selected by default) and “Adobe DV”. BlackMagic Audio is not listed here.
Looking at “Audio Hardware” in the Premiere preferences, the Adobe Desktop Audio choice is “System Default Input/Output”. Under the Output Mapping, it is showing “Adobe Desktop Audio”.

    There are 16 OUTPUTS shown.

Any other things I should try?

Thank you, Andrew. You were exactly right. That checkbox HAD been checked at one time for another setting, but I guess it didn’t remain so when I was trying other options. I’m back in business again. And I appreciate your wisdom.

Chris, you are a genius. Next time I’m in Atlanta I owe you a Venti Pike Place at Starbucks (or something similar). I wouldn’t have guessed that setting (1080i) was the answer, so I never tried it.

But now the Canvas freezes and gives me a still image when the playhead is running. Go figure… I can live with that if I need to.

    Thanks much!

May 4, 2011 at 6:30 pm in reply to: HDMI out from Decklink Studio within FCP 7.03

Updated to the newest driver (versioin 8.0) and firmware. I now see great still images of the final frame played from the timeline, but no moving video. I’ve tried 1080p video in a sequence that matches that video and see only a frozen image that updates with the playhead stops. I tried 720p video and had the same results.

I’ve gone through several dozen video (output) choices from the extensive listing supported by the card. I do not see anything that refers to the HDMI output of the Decklink Studio secondary card.

    Can you please help?

I tried a 720p sequence with some 720p footage and, no, I only see a still frame. When I stop the playhead that frame updates to the final frame played.

I went through all of this using SD footage and a broadcast monitor 6 or 7 years ago and it was a simple checkbox that needed a mark in it. This isn’t fun.

    Thanks for any ideas.

If have the Blackmagic Design Decklink Studio with the HDMI in/out card. I just updated to the newest driver/software. I get GREAT still frames on it when the playhead is parked. I get no moving images at all.

As for the video output setting within FCP, I’ve tried a ton of them — everything that I’d think could possibly work (with the exception of 2K and Red choices). Using NTSC 720X486 settings I DO see moving video, but it is horribly blocky.

All Frames is checked. I’ve tried Single Frame and “OFF” and still no moving images during playback.

  • Jud – I have decided to hold out for one of the two BMD USB 3 devices and wait for the MacPro to be released, supposedly with USB 3. If you believe rumors, it is thought that the Apple update will happen before the end of the summer. There is so much power in their Ultra Studio Pro or the Shuttle with USB 3, I think I’ll just wait and buy one of them. The Ultra Studio Pro is more power than I need, and the Shuttle may be less (no transport control for my BetaSP decks), but I like what I see in their specs.
    Best regards,
    Greg
