You can create square/rectangular Shape layers with round corners using the Rounded Rectangle Tool (use the dropdown next to the pen tool) – set the roundness in its Contents > Rectangle 1 >Rectangle Path 1 > Roundness. You can use these as Track Mattes if you need to round off the corners of other layers, images etc.

I’m a bit confused. You can move one object to the other by not moving the anchor points but by using the Anchor Point x/y in the Transform properties – the anchor point will remain fixed while the object itself moves. If that isn’t helpful can you explain (or show) what you are trying to achieve.

Hi Kevin. Use the Pan Behind tool to drag them to the same position.

Just checking – when you say ‘the emitter’ you do mean the actual “Emitter” that is listed in the pull down for the effect in the Effect Control panel?

September 20, 2019 at 12:53 am in reply to: How can i make shadows more blue?

Hi again, interesting conundrum. If you are using a light to cast the shadow:
Duplicate your object and make it into a solid black/blue silhouette (don’t know what your object is so can’t assist there).Put it below your object layer – parent to original if necessary. In it’s material options set Casts Shadows ON, Light Transmission 100% – it will now cast a blue/black shadow.
On your object layer set it’s Casts Shadows to OFF.
Now play with the colour of your silhouette till you get a colour match.
    Should do it!?

Hi Richard. If you use either the Drop Shadow or Radial Shadow effects you can choose the shadow colour. Is that of any use? If you are using a light to cast it my instinct would be to try to make a track matte out of the shadow somehow – don’t know if that is helpful but it might give you a direction to think in?

September 19, 2019 at 2:28 am in reply to: Tracking in After effects using Mocha. (Optical flares)

Hi Laurence. I think what you need to do is copy the tracking data to the flare’s XY Position. Don’t put it on the layer as it will likely show the edges of the layer and will cut off the flare. Does that do what you want?

  • Hi. Click off the layer (de-select) and then click back onto the layer (re-select). With the pen tool or the selection tool, click on the vertex you want to move. Or if you want to continue drawing use the pen tool and click on the last vertex you created.

Hi. I presume you are using a particle system for the smoke? If so you need to keyframe the Emitter to move with the barrel – you might even be able to manually keyframe the position with some care.

Hi Ali, I would strongly suggest that you use Premiere Pro for your subtitling, it is already set up to do it and is much quicker and easier. This (random) tutorial should give you a starting point:
