double click while editing mask exits pen tool; how to resume?
While editing mask using the pen tool, if I accidentally double click on a node, it exits the pen tool and switches to the selection tool.
To resume editing the mask before the accidental double click, I have to (1) hit escape (2) select pen tool (3) add a node
If I skip step (3) and attempt to move one node, the entire mask moves.
Is there a faster way to resume editing than these 3 steps?
This is AE CC 2018.

Hi. Click off the layer (de-select) and then click back onto the layer (re-select). With the pen tool or the selection tool, click on the vertex you want to move. Or if you want to continue drawing use the pen tool and click on the last vertex you created.
