    Hi Adam,

Do you mean the ‘xdve’ codec -if so, that’s the fourcc for XDCAM EX 1080p25. Calibrated{Q} XD Decode does decode this format – however this product is not meant to be used on any Mac computers with any version of Final Cut Pro installed. For users with FCP 5.1.4 or earlier – that wish to have XDCAM EX workflows – we do recommend upgrading to at least FCP 6.0.2 in which FCP introduced XDCAM EX workflows.

If you have anymore questions, please feel free to email me at info@calibratedsoftware.com

    Hi Alice,

It sounds like you have installed one of our Calibrated{Q} Decode codecs – as we do have a gray watermark when using our software in DEMO MODE. Also, just a FYI – our Calibrated{Q} Decode codecs are not meant for Mac computers with FCP installed.

    To uninstall our software just:

    1. Delete the Calibrated folder from the Applications directory

    2. Delete the Calibrated*Codec.component from the /Library/QuickTime directory (that’s the Library folder on the Main harddrive not the Library folder in the User directory) – not sure which Decode codec you may have installed so the * is what the name of the codec would be.

    3. restart

    and that should be it.

    Cheers,
    Greg

    Hi,

Those gray bars mean that you download and installed one of our Calibrated{Q} Decode codecs – the gray bars are the DEMO MODE watermark. Calibrated{Q} Decode codecs are not meant for a Mac computer with any version of FCP installed.

    To uninstall:

    1. Delete the Calibrated folder from the Applications directory
    2. Delete the Calibrated component from the /Library/QuickTime folde r(that’s the Library folder on the Main Harddrive NOT the Library folder in the User directory)
    3. Restart

    and you’re all done.

    Cheers,
    Greg

    Hi,

It looks like you installed our DEMO version of Calibrated{Q} XD Decode for OSX – this is not needed or meant for computers with Final Cut Pro (the gray grid pattern is the DEMO watermark).

    To uninstall:

    1. Delete the Calibrated folder from the Applications directory

    2. Delete the CalibratedXDCodec.component from the /Library/QuickTime directory(that’s the Library directory on the Main Harddrive NOT the Library directory in the User directory)

    3. Restart

and that’s it. Thumbnails in FCP may still have the gray grid watermark (since FCP cahces though ) to fix you just have to disable then re-enable thumbnails and FCP should re-generate them.

    Cheers,
    Greg

    Hi,

Our Calibrated{Q} XD Decode for Windows should be able to let you import the MOV files into PPro. It’s a QuickTime Decode codec for XDCAM HD/EX/HDV MOV files. You can download a free DEMO here (DEMO is fully functional except that it has a gray grid watermark pattern):

    https://www.calibratedsoftware.com/QXD.asp

The MOV clips probably won’t play in realtime in in PPro CS3 – but you’ll at least be able to bring the MOV files in and render and/or export them into a file format that would be RT in PPro.

    Greg

January 3, 2010 at 9:30 pm in reply to: Conversion to Quicktime Movie Problem

    Hi Scott,

To delete the DEMO’s – basically all you need to do is:

    1. Delete the Calibrated folder from the Applications directory

    2. Delete the CalibratedXDCodec.component from the /Library/QuickTime folder (that’s the Library folder on the Main Harddrive not the Library folder in the User directory)

    3. Restart

and you should be good – if you get an error saying something is in use – usually that means that an application is still open in System Memory that is using the codec. You can always restart your computer first before trying the above steps to insure that an applciation is not open that would be using the codec.

January 2, 2010 at 9:29 pm in reply to: Conversion to Quicktime Movie Problem

    Hi Scott,

The Full version of Calibrated{Q} XD Decode is only $79.95 – you might be looking at the bundle of Calibrated{Q} MP4-EX Import PLUS Calibrated{Q} XD Decode for $99.95 – the bundle ‘should’ enable you to import the XDCAM EX MP4 files into iMovie (which I think then iMovie automatically converts into Apple Intermediate MOV files – not too sure since I havent really worked with iMovie) – if you purchase Calibrated{Q} XD Decode by itself then you would have to transcode the MP4 files into MOV files using XDCAM Transfer before importing them into iMovie.

or I believe VLC has some conversion options – so maybe you could convert the MP4 files from them into something iMovie likes

or someone you know with FCP could convert the MP4 files into a .MOV file that iMovie understands.

or Sony XDCAM EX Clip Browser has some conversion options (but I think the ‘free’ version is rather limited into what it can convert to)

Hope that helps – maybe some other people have other suggestions too!

    Cheers,
    Greg

    Hi Scott,

The gray watermarks you described is the DEMO watermark for Calibrated{Q} XD Decode.

Per MP4 files – XDCAM EX MP4 files are not mpeg4 files. MP4 is a file wrapper (like MXF or MOV) and is not a compression scheme (which is what MPEG4 is) – MP4 files can store MPEG4 data BUT XDCAM EX MP4 files are MPEG2 encoded. It’s a little confusing but hopefully my explanation made sense.

    Cheers,
    Greg
