I would say that the consumer market is more interested in HD video or at the very least Wide screen video. Most people have a widescreen TV at home. I wouldn’t invest in a PD150 if I were you. That being said we still use our Pd150s for corporate meetings, web videos, and presentation skills workshops.

Thanks Mike. Here are a few questions though.
1. Why a self contained QT and not a reference movie?
2. What SD sequence settings did you use?
3. For a 15 minute video would you just use Compressors 90 minute best settings?
4. Why do you shoot progressive not interlaced? -
Mike I’d be interested in the outcome as well. As you’ll see below I’ve been running through the same issue. ONe person told me he just takes it to compressor from the Ex1 timeline, yet another told me to make an SD timeline.
Can you please share your settings with what becomes your optimum output to DVD? Thanks.

I think you really need to get it converted at a facility who has something like and Alchemist Platinum
standards converter. These converters are quite expensive and will work much better for you than any software method you’re trying. -
Okay I’m working on that now. Creating a new sequence Pro res 422. Then what do you think I should do?
1. Drag that sequence to a new SD timeline?
2. Export the re-rendered sequence by reference to compressor? -
No I haven’t done that. Can you tell me how to un-render all of the files? Can I crate a new sequence to do that so I don’t disturb the current one?

I can’t export by reference. I’ve exported the quicktime movie, but it just doesn’t look great on DVD. Lots of pixelation on people’s glasses and some movement issues (blurring stuttering) on slow pans and tilts.
