I’m not just dropping the wide screen into an 8 bit uncompressed timeline, I’m blowing it up to fill the frame. I don’t believe you can do that in compressor.

BTW how long would it take to transcode 4 90-minute presentations?

I also have a LHe, so I can down convet easily.

How do you transcode the footage to 8 bit? I’ve been given this footage by my shooter already on a hard drive as QT files. Remember I’m trying to enlarge the wide screen footage to fill a 4:3 image.

I’d also check with them on th best format for them to edit. WMV is not a good source to edit from. Try uncompressed quicktime

Thanks Craig. The other issue is these presentations will be 90 minutes I’ll break them down to 45 minute segments. I think full size will create huge file sizes. The audience will be industry specific doctors, so there’s no way of knowing what the bandwith should be.

We use stick on labels for most of our DVDs for small quantities. Never had one problem. For larger orders we send them out to a local company which imprints directly on the DVD.

I’m shooting a series of presentations that will be used primarily on a client’s website but will also end up on DVDs. These presentations have tons of PowerPoint Slides provided by the presenters. We’re shooting the presenters on an EX1 How would you edit this? Wide screen or 4:3? Wouldn’t the powerpoint need to be stretched?

I imagine that the file size will be 320 X 240. Would 16:9 be 320 X180? Would that be too small?

It seems like you’ve learned a lesson the hard way. I agree with the others. Move on to finding good clients. One thing you should always do is provide a written contract that they sign and also NEVER release a video without payment in full. You’ll be amazed how quickly (good) clients pay when they know you have their video ready but won’t release it without payment.

We send the client their video with timecode burned in until we receive final payment.
