Thanks for your response, changing to upper field did not seem to work. The Gaussian blur did work but blurred the image a little too much by the time it removed the flicker. I am sure on some images it would be ok. The vertical Gaussian blur was better than the horizontal. Thanks for pointing that out.
The best solution I have found is to apply the “REDUCE INTERLACE FLICKER” to the clip, then apply a sharpen filter to take out the blurring it creates. It seems to work well. Unless there is any other simple solution out there ? I will go down that path.

    Correction, it is still crashing.

It seems to happen when I try to UNDO (ctrl Z) an action such as moving clips around in the time line.

Thanks for your responses. I have sound reduction tools including the Sony noise reduction.
I am not looking for a noise reduction tool, though I am open to trying them all, as they also may help.

I would like to know how to sample a particular sound & remove that sound a little or a lot.
I use a tool called DV ART restoration where I can sample any part of an audio track then remove that part totally or mildly through the whole audio clip, while evaluating how much it will adversely effect the voice. So I sample some hiss between the words then apply that sample to the whole clip. I was hoping there is a way to do this in Sound Forge or if there is a plug in for it.

Does any one have any idea why this would happen on two different external drives with vegas avi’s and not any other avi’s? ie: edius or premiere. Does anyone know how to change the codec priority in windows xp?

Yes I have Edius installed & Premiere & Vegas. I use all three.

The avi files from Edius use a Canopus avi codec, the Premiere avi’s use some other
and the Vegas use what ever Vegas uses, I think video for windows avi.

This is not happening on my system drive in the laptop, but is happening on two external desktop IDE drives with two different cases.

They are all DV avi files.

Do you know if you can change the priority of codec in windows XP?
