I’m listening in here as well Mimi – I’d love to get a handle on a better merged clip/proxy workflow for doc work.

Hey Bruno – ever resolve this issue?

    I’m wondering the same thing.

Hey Steve – great post and a useful program option too but in CC v9.2, I’m not seeing this option.

Do you know if it’s disappeared?

October 29, 2015 at 6:26 pm in reply to: How to adjust audio in Source Monitor

[ and ], shift+[ and shift +] will adjust the clip volume down and up in the source panel/monitor and the “Audio Meters” shows the levels but I don’t see how you can add keyframes or alter left and right/2 mono tracks in the source panel as in FCP or Avid…

Any thoughts would be awesome – it doesn’t seem right that I should have to say, duck camera audio on A1 every time I want to use an interview clip with LAV on A2 (type thing).

I’ve got this one too – did deleting the waveform cache folder work for anyone?

November 10, 2014 at 10:06 pm in reply to: No Media Drives available; shot log only

hey everyone – I’ve been getting this same “no media drives available” message while using “import” as well.

Weird thing is I have no problem playing content or creating/rendering to the my Avid MediaFiles folders AND I can import media by drag and drop into bins. It’s just the “import” command that triggers this message.

It took a short hiatus when I created a new user and new project but returned shortly there after.

I’m using external media drives connected by USB3
    AVID 8.2.0
    a MacMini OS 10.9.5

    Much appreciated.

September 18, 2014 at 4:40 pm in reply to: AVID MXF hang during “preparing media”

Matt – seems transcoding has in fact solved the hang up issue.

The results from the sync were a little mixed as the two camera shoot was mostly a couple of interviews but down the timeline included broll where the cameras were shooting different stuff. Not the cleanest timeline after the sync… But super solid on the sections of the card where it was more straight forward.

I’m thinking I’ve got some workflow adjusting ahead of me. Thx for the reply!

Hey Matt – I’ve been having the same problem with AMA footage from Avid MC8. Been trying again with transcoded media but so far I’m having the same issue… Any thoughts from your adventures?

I hear ya Shane – I love the Caldigit HD One I’ve got in my own suite but I’m out working in producers’ suites more often than not and more often than not, it’s on fairly paired down systems.

Good call on using 422 for 5D footage – it’s really been on the advice of colourists that I’ve been going to HQ…

As for drive space, you’re totally right – space is cheaper than cheap these days, but as an editor I find I get stuck with recommending a good archiving strategy as pretty much everything is file-based for me these days.

Cloning hard drives is the lowest-cost option but not fail safe – but really, HDD backing up the source footage and printing masters to tape still seems to be the most realistic option until LTO gets cheaper or flash drives get bigger, no?
