If I HOLD down SHIFT while I Drag an FX to an Event, I don’t get the Menu.

Dave, I feel for you.

At present I can’t view Prerendered files on my 2nd Monitor – that’s NOT external. What I get is a Black and White, squished-left video. SONY knows this and are working on it. My suggestion to you is to send them a ticket and report what you have written here.

These things are really nasty when they roost on your system and especially when in other versions it works.

When I need to import back my own DVD material I place the DVD in the PC’s DVD player/burner and GO:-

File | Import | DVD Camcorder Disc . . . and follow the onscreen instructions.

Done! Couldn’t be easier.

You’ll need an AV to DV covertor. You got? Most DV Camcorders allow for “Pass through”. Once you have this set up, through a firewire connection, Vegas’s Capture Program will recognize your signal. Make sure you have NOT engaged any DV-Control in Video Capture program.

So it’s:

VCR AV out > AV signal to AV:DV covertor (camcorder pass through) using whatever AV cabling is allowed > Firewire IEEE 1394 cable to your firewire input on your PC.

Step 5? Having a problem? Make sure you have Plug-In Manager Revealed:

1] GO: View | “Plug-In Manager” check this OR Ctrl+Alt+1

2] Plug-In Manager | Plug-Ins | Video | FX | Filter Packages

3] Locate your NEW one and “Drag” onto your Timeline Selection

Questions still stand, but try V7 and see if that is still working. If it IS then uncheck any option for viewing on external monitor FROM V7. I’ve had ExtMon issues when one or more program is vying for the ExtMon’s attentions.

Here’s the shorthand: Make a Filter package and add to your selection needing CC-ing.

. .and here’s the Longhand!:

1] Adjust just one Event with your colour Correction until you are satisfied with its “look”.

2] Create a Plugin Filter Package from this NEW single link “chain” by clicking on the Plug-In Chain Icon and bringing up the “Plug-In Chooser – Video Event FX” window/menu.

3] Click on the “Save As . . ” Icon and enter a NEW name – I start mine off with my initials and then the Project and the version of the Package. So I’d type: GB LondonAugust 1a

4] Go back to the Timeline and Select ALL the remaining Events on the Timeline that need this correction added, or enough you can cope with!

5] Go to the Filter Package Window and drag your NEW Filter Package onto the first ONE of your selection, and the rest will get it too! This selection can be out of sequence too. Just start off selecting 2 or 5 or so on until you are confident. And you can use and reuse the Filter Package as often as you like.

This does work and only ADDS the filter package, here your CC, to what you want.

I’ve tried using the Project Media option for FXs, don’t like it, nor the Preset for Colour Correction . . .

Sorry, I’m not having this issue. Neither 9 nor 9a?

Maybe your PC is choking on the actual signal out of your DV<>AV conversion? How is your AV signal coming out from your pc? Is it from a separate DV<>AV card? Or how? What are you editing? What is the media content? Have you setup the options for external monitor for your output? What are your Project settings?
