Even with Vegas 9b when I go to my external monitor hooked up via firewire Vegas locks up instantly. Is anyone else still having this problem? I was under the impression that this was fixed in Vegas 9a, but because of all the media/text problems I wasn’t running 9a. With this going on Vegas 9 is almost useless to me. Any help would be much appreciated.

Sorry, I’m not having this issue. Neither 9 nor 9a?

Maybe your PC is choking on the actual signal out of your DV<>AV conversion? How is your AV signal coming out from your pc? Is it from a separate DV<>AV card? Or how? What are you editing? What is the media content? Have you setup the options for external monitor for your output? What are your Project settings?

Before I answer all those questions let me tell you that on the same computer I do not have thgis problem at all using Vegas 7. Does that help?

    Thanks

Questions still stand, but try V7 and see if that is still working. If it IS then uncheck any option for viewing on external monitor FROM V7. I’ve had ExtMon issues when one or more program is vying for the ExtMon’s attentions.

Yes version 7 works fine. I will try your suggestion and unselect the external monitoring from Vegas 7. Thanks for your suggestions and I will let you know if this change has any effect.

    Thanks

I disabled the video preview to the external monitor in Vegas 7 and it still locks up in Vegas 9b. The preview settings in Vegas 9 are the same as those I have in Vegas 7. I imported one of the same avi files that are in the Vegas 9b build into Vegas 7 and the preview works just fine. Any more thoughts? This really stinks.

    Thanks

    Dave, I feel for you.

At present I can’t view Prerendered files on my 2nd Monitor – that’s NOT external. What I get is a Black and White, squished-left video. SONY knows this and are working on it. My suggestion to you is to send them a ticket and report what you have written here.

These things are really nasty when they roost on your system and especially when in other versions it works.

    Regards

Dave, I’m having the exact same problem. This was an issue in version 9 and I spent forever going back and forth with Sony until they finally said they were able to recreate the problem and a fix would be forthcoming. Then finally 9.0a came and it was fixed, but then the titles were horribly broken. Then finally 9.0b came out and the titles are working again but the firewire preview is back to being broken. I’m starting to think that their solution to fixing 9.0a was to rerelease 9.0 and just call it 9.0b. Sony has really dropped the ball this time around and Vegas will never gain any respect in the industry if they keep this up.

Here’s hoping 9.0d doesn’t just bring back broken titles.

Hey David, I experienced the same exact thing that you did with the preview working on 9a, but all kinds of text problems, then no text problems in 9b, but no preview either. I like your re-release theory where 9b is actually 9!!! I hope this get’s fixed because it’s a waste of money to have a software upgrade that can’t be used.

    Thanks
