What has this to do with your issue on T/C? If your battery needs replacing, for Time Date, how does using cards alter the need for having a fresh system battery?

I haven’t. There again I’ve not come across any reference relating to your “wondering” either, and I’ve been using Vegas for 10 years. However, I’m always willing to learn.

Well, Larry, it would have been BUG-nuked to death by then!
As to it being “better”, as a comparison to VP521, I don’t agree. VP11 is going, eventually, to be the way forward. Once the BUGs are squished, we are ALL going to benefit from the improved blue-water experience of better framerates and having 3rd party OFX developers being able to create gorgeous FX options – I kid-you-NOT!
VP11 is only a peak or even a nod to what I believe SCS has planned. Us being the foot soldiers of this long term campaign can be exciting, presently it is mostly frustrating. But hey, good things sometimes are hard to grab, but when they do . . . woah!!!!!

I’ve been hacking my business for 10 years with one flavour of Vegas or another, and at every “bleeding-edge” change Vegas has blown me away – driven me nutz sometimes too – but being part of this journey has had its major awards, for me at least.
I can’t forget the ease of the 3-Colour Wheel coming out in VV6(?), or my gasp at the working Media Manager, or the ease at which I could do stuff.

2 things going on here – nothing to do with the sizing.
1] You have your Timeline set to Bottom of the Screen
AND
2] You don’t have any Control Panes added to that Pink “Docking Area” which IS the Default Docking area – it is ready to receive some controls, like Project Media Pane, or Trimmer or . . whatever.

YUP!!! Reproed at last in VP11B521! – I’d call it an invertebrate – BUG – in the VP11 Script or maybe something even more fundamental(?).

Yeah, total pain.
I have a Canon XF300. It produces XMF files. The Canon came with a Utility that allows me to export aggregated XMF files to a single folder. I then drag these files to the Project Media pane and off I go.
That’s one way.
Another way I use is the SONY Media Manager. This is good as I can again aggregate/collect any XMF files and prior to importing into the Project Media pane I can audition the clips and them organise clips into a more of a logical, pre edit, narrative.
There is yet another way, which I haven’t tried yet, and that us to use the SONY XDCAM Utility. Haven’t gone down this route.
Ok, for me, apart from XDCAM, these are working for me. Here is one major caveat you need to be aware of. I use CF cards. CF cards are only formatted in fat32. This means that long form takes are clamped to chained 2gb file sizes. Anything over 2gb and you get chains of files. Drag an hour lecture onto the timeline you’ve got several files. Depending on the bitrate, you’ll have more or less. I’ve needed to render these chains to a further XMF to go ahead with multicam! If I didn’t I’d have ended up with a bowl of spaghetti.
So, several ways to deal with my Canon output. Standard Definition, tape based file management it ain’t.
If I do sound weary about this, it’s true. Clip naming and chaining are just two of the silllinesses I’d have thought we’d got down and dusted, by now, being in the 21st Century?

It appears you have a mismatch of pixel aspect ratio [PAR] going on somewhere in your workflow. You could also have a PanCrop control in effect.
Check to make sure your Project settings match your Media being used. If you are rendering to a template, make sure you have the fill letterbox filled checked.
There are many places where you could be achieving this result.
