These are good as they get, when we want to do a quick and easy fade. If you want a more controlled and “shaped” Audio fade is to “Insert Volume Envelope” and apply Points along its length. This way you will have an infinite range of Volume control and throughout the whole Event or the Track you insert your Volume Envelope on.

You might like to also explore the Pan Envelope as when as the Mute Envelope too.

So:

1/- Insert Volume Envelope: Right Click on the Track Header of the EVent and slect Insert Volume Envelope – or, Shift+V

2/- At the place on the the Volume Envelope where you wish to start dropping the audio volume, Right Click on the Envelope and “Add Point”.

3/- Add a further Point a little way away and Drag the Point down. You should see the Envelope being “pulled” down.

There IS a KB Command waiting for you to assign a KB combination of KeyStrokes.

Open the Customize Keyboard and Type in the Global Option: MUTE

I just did and got back exactly what you’re after, but you do NEED to assign a KeyStroke. I used Ctrl+Z. You now click on an Event and hit Ctrl+Z and it Mutes that Event. Works for both Video or Audio.

While trying to import an mp4 video (HD, 1920 x 1080, 23 fps) into Sony Vegas I get a message

Well, you’re not on the latest and LAST Build – 9.0b (Build 92)

And in the WhitePaper from SCS:-

Fixed a bug that prevented Vegas Movie Studio from opening the audio streams of MPEG-2 files that use stereo AC-3 encoding.

So there are some notable Import issues. You/ve had the MainConcept MP4 flag up an issue: ‘mcmp4plug.dll‘

Maybe, just maybe, this is cured with that Build 92?

Either that OR you need to do some housekeeping?
