Try matching your Vegas Project Settings to the Media.

You raise an interesting, my word, conundrum: Media that can be played in a Media Previewer should also be Preview-enabled within an NLE. Am I correct?

Can you access “other” media that plays in your Media Player and VP14? I’m guessing you can. But let’s check it anyway.

Can you supply information about that Media? Use the MediaInfo s/w and report back here.

My guess is that VP14 is choking on that Media because of a CODEC mismatch and/or bitrates are too high for the VP Project Settings and the Media Player isn’t. Trying to confirm any of this will require you to do some more dectective work so we could possibly assist you.

Can you see if the .NET Framework is being suggested as an update? Are you capable of determining just which.Net Framework you are currently working with?

Another thought: Have you recently installed new software? I say this because I recently installed some graphics software and it flagged up the need for a newer version of .NET Framework and went ahead and installed it! I discovered this because I interrogated the M$ Updater and saw Updater had indeed installed a new version of .NET.

Look at your Update History in the updater manager. This will show you what updates were downloaded and installed. Looking at what “is” available, your optional comment, is not the same as what “has” been downloaded and installed. And again, has any of the .NET Framework updates been installed. If so note the date it happened on.
