Email me graeme@nattress.com and we’ll get you 2.5.2 which will probably work. If in the meantime you need things to work, try 8bit for the timeline and that should work just fine.

It seems that there’s some serious 10bit bugs still in FCP. Which version of Film Effects are you using as I was sure I’d squashed them all!
Also, if you’re shooting DV25, there’s no real benefit to an SD 10bit capture anyway….

MetaSan works well for a easy to use and set up SAN. It’s full file-level too.

Lots of differences:

100mb/s 145 – 220 mb/s (target)* – Although DVCproHD is 4:2:2, it is so at a reduced resolution, giving it only 640 chroma pixels across the image, compared to 960 in ProRes (in 1080).
** – Although DVCproHD has a constant bit rate, the bit rate can be lower when not recording to tape as duplicate frames are not recorded in some modes. When recording 720p24, the effective bit rate drops to 40mb/s. I’ve not explored ProRes enough to know what it’s bitrates drop to with lower frame rates.

If you just put an NTSC clip in the PAL timeline and render (without my plugin) do you get the same shit?

From what I can see, and I’ve not gone in depth yet, the new timeline is better than FCP5 at conversion, but still jerkier than my plugin. It might be acceptable, it might not.

That’s so weird. I’ve never seen it get darker. Have you got a BMD card installed?

You can scale by hand, or if you use the nesting method, the plugin will scale for you! Video here: https://www.nattress.com/Products/standardsconversion/movies.htm shows the nesting method.
I’ve never seen a levels shift inside FCP. Which codecs are you using?
Compressor, when I last tested it took about 40 times longer to render a conversion that looked better than the plugin. I’m sure they’ve made it faster since then, but not by that much 🙂

Yeah, SDX900 would be great for 16:9 SD stuff. Great picture on that cam, and DV50 too.
