    Hello

I work for a local government PEG station and we have been using Liquid for about 7 years. Since Avid’s purchase of Pinnacle we have seen their pro support really go downhill. We want to get into a shared storage with asset management solution, but the word we are getting from Avid is that they are not going to have Liquid fully functional with Interplay.

About this same time Apple came out with Final Cut Server, which looked very interesting. We currently only have PCs and would need to upgrade to Apple gear. But we don’t have Apple IT people. I have done a little research and have found out that XSAN can be difficult to set up. So I have been looking at Facilis Terrablock and EditShare.

To start out we would be running GigE but and it looks like I could run Terrablock as GigE and then upgrade to FiberChannel in the future.

What are peoples experiences with Terrablock and Editshare? Any other suggestions?

    Thanks!

We’ve been using the TerraBlock for a year now… It’s been working very very well. No real problems to speak of. Its not scalable at the moment but future software will make this available.

    Terrablock works on ALL platforms.

XSan is a small bit to set up, but we’ve been running it now for a year or so with no problems. (other than a small issue which, of course, had more to do with the administator than the software….) All in all, it’s worked very well for us and really wasn’t any trouble to set up if you follow the outlined steps.

We’ve been using SAN MP (software) for 4 years with 5 suites, easy to manage and setup.

hardware: lots of choices Rorke HDX2, Infortrend actually the same product. Xserve raid you don’t need to use the complex xSan but the hardware is good.

back to software I hear fiberjet is very good

    Good luck!

MetaSan works well for a easy to use and set up SAN. It’s full file-level too.

    Hi,

I’m trying to learn about SAN MP but cannot find it on the web. Could you tell me who makes it or where I can find info on it?

    Thanks

    Simon
