AIC is a bit better quality than DVCProHD, and ProRes would be superior, if overkill.

http://www.nattress.com for film effects info. Best bet to help with noisy footage is try a bit of diffusion to mask the noise. Any more than that, and it’s going to be tricky. I’d recommend my noise reduction stuff in “Color”, but that’s not out yet, but if you can wait until you get FCS2, then that might be an option.

Well, ProRes is 10bit for starters, anf full raster for seconds, rather than the crippled 1280 instead of 1920 that DVCProHD offers. If you’re going straight from a camera capable of 10bit out, I’d suggest that ProRes to an IOHD would be utterly superb and the next best thing to Uncompressed 10bit, and probably better for color correction than Uncompressed 8bit.

The “conform” tool in Cinema Tools can be very useful. It will slow or speed up any rate to the your 25fps rate, slowing or speeding the footage. Works great.

Rendering to 10bit uncompressed can have an advantage but capturing as such doesn’t confer any, especially in the DV50 case where both the native format and the SDI output are 4:2:2. Remember, FCP itself will uncompress the data to 4:4:4 before rendering takes place, and if the timeline is set to be uncompressed, I don’t see any difference.
