if you do a search for cloning with resolve, you can find a technique where you duplicate a shot onto layer 2, window it and reposition the contents of that shot over by a pixel or two. I’m not sure if you would be able to narrow your window down to a small enough section or not, but its worth a try for a “free” fix.

Cloning the adjacent pixels is usually the best way to fix dead pixels.

Other than the original mxf files in AE, are the other assets high res?

why not just export quicktimes of each layer out of AE and import them into Avid. Yes you would have to manually import them into avid, and cut them into the timeline, but might be quicker.

Where was this media originally created. You are both coming from Premiere, and having issues reading media in Avid. You both say your project is set to 36dnxhd, but are you both saying you transcoded media in Avid to 36, took it into Premiere, cut it and then sent It back to Avid? or are you using premiere to make the mxf media in the first place? I’ve personally had very little success going from Premiere to Avid, so I’m not surprised you are having issues, but I’m not really sure what your workflow was.

Remember you can relink across columns as well.

Relink to selected items in open bins will allow you to set up quite a few variations of columns for avid to use in the relink process.

You should be able to set up a cross over where the location has changed, so you can say it was the tape id, but is now the name column.

If you are looking for the Fusion particle system to work as a plug in (apply it to your light source, and magically do something) then no.

The particle system is quite powerful, but you will have to learn how to use it to build anything out of it. Even a simple ball of particles will require a bit of playing around.

With it you can certainly emulate fire and smoke and little floaties.
You could certainly colour it red, but to make that particular light sabre would take a lot of fiddleing around, but i’m sure someone with a lot of practice with it could do something pretty cool.

Again, I’m on Windows, so things may be different, but if I have an issue with it the first step is to relaunch the Euphonics app and get it to re initialize the surfaces.

Once it is running, if you exit Avid do the controllers now show that they have control of a different program?

In windows when Avid or Resolve isn’t running, the panels show control over Office or they might even say Desktop…not at my box right now. But they are always in control of something.

I’ve actually had more issues getting them to snap to Avid than anything else…Resolve just always seems to work,and I’ve always been on DHCP.

There are no other computers on the network with EU running are there. I have had issues with that.

Have you got the color transport turned on in Resolves preferences?

I;m using it with 12 (windows) with no issues.

Transport will let you use mapped button presets, but I don’t think the shuttle wheel will work.

I use the color and artist control surfaces both with Resolve.

Unless I’m mis reading your question, it sounds like you are asking us where you put your camera originals?

Avid should tell you the last known path for the file that was linked. If the file isn’t there, then I’m afraid its up to you to go find a replacement.

Or are you saying the mxf transcodes are offline?

There is no doubt the system doesn’t work. I don’t think it has worked since they implemented it. I thought the original comment was saying that you had to had to enter a current system ID to get through to a person.

I’ve heard a few people state this in the past as well.

I’m simply saying, that the correct path will in their phone support system will work to get to a person without entering any information.

Both times I’ve had this issue the person in licensing has fixed the problem for me without a second transfer. Obviously you do need to know your ID number at some point for them to get everything going.

At least this time i didn’t have to request a new dongle update because the software updated. I had to do that the last time as well.

As happens with a lot of systems…the more they make things better for them, the worse it becomes for us.

you don’t need to enter your system id when you call support.

I’ve had this happen 2 years in a row now. Last week I noticed my license had expired, even though I renewed at the start of December.

call 1 800 800 AVID and then I think you press for video support, and licensing issues. No need to enter a system ID.
