Shane, your purchase of a mac is still in play. There is no ProRes output from resolve on a windows box…any version.

I’ve had Miriazon prores on my boxes for years to make ProRes, but I don’t think Resolve even sees those.

I have Switch (pro) which will allow me to convert some files to ProRes, but I still see gamma shifts. (slight but still there)
plus the matrix of what you can and can’t convert with it is a bit confusing.

Hyperdeck studio is my prefered method to create a prores file. Perfect picture every time.

Having said that, I just purchased a used Imac which sits in the back room, has a second dongle for Resolve studio, and just finished creating a prores master for me. I will be checking it today for gamma shifts.

given the opportunity to take your sequence back to camera original vs a pro res file, i would go back to the original. Converting footage to to offline res for edit, then relinking to camera original, then transcoding to ProResHQ simply is an unnecessary step, (and wastes space) Send your list to Resolve, and tell resolve to link to the camera originals, and start color.

i believe the free version is unable to use ofx plugins as well. (as well as the mac app store version?)

sorry, you are going to have to rebuild the original the hard way. I usually save a pre mixdown sequence if i do anything like that, just in case this happens.

You could check out your attic and see if an older version of the sequence exists (pre mixdown) and re do the section in question.

does it stop on the same clip each time?

Have you tried removing that clip?

    Could be corrupt media.

have you checked the power requirements, and what you have available? That was usually the first issue when trying to put a newer card in those boxes.

  • is your media on you computer, or were you running it straight from the source? (phone and gopro)

Is your source still plugged into the system?

I haven’t used Resolve to do syncing of external audio in an offline/online scenario for several years…because of this issue.

Did a feature movie dailies in Resolve, and didn’t realize till later that the audio was not going to relink back to the originals. That was back in Resolve 10 i think.

If you are on the newest Resolve, than i would say they haven’t changed that issue yet.

As a solution, you could import the audio into Avid and do another round of syncing before making your edit bins.

If your timecode matches, it will take very little time at all to do the syncing.

This tells me FCPX is either interpreting the footage wrong, or doing something to it internally.

(This also tells me you might want to be careful if coloring in FCPX)

“How do I fix it?” Don’t color in FCPX?

Nice explanation Simon! Comes up quite a bit, and can be tough to get the point across.
