Couple of things to be aware of.
As you stated, make sure you do any renaming before you do your proxies. Renaming after the originals after the initial transcode session will be a disaster.
You could also create a folder structure based on the shoot dates, this way you aren’t interfering with any original metadata.
I’m not sure if you can rename the spanned C300 clips and get them to work properly. That would be a testing situation. C300 is pretty picky about its directory structure and index file, and as you’ve stated, Resolve doesn’t always play nice with spanned clips. I’ve had the same issue you are presented with …matching file names over different clips, but i’ve only created a new high res “master” file- say as a ProRes or something like that, renamed it, and then treated that ProRes as my camera original before transcoding. Again, not sure if you can rename some of those spanned clips properly, and keep the integrity of the folders.

yes, but there are times where import is necessary. The problem at hand isn’t so much a workflow, as a settings issue.

Ya the workflow is really designed to have all the clips online at once. Neils idea should work, but could be quite the pain in the butt.
How much total footage are you talking about?
Might be worth a couple of hundred bucks to buy a couple of 4 tb drives to put all the media to.

Avid is probably interpreting the footage wrong during your import.
Go to your import options, and change the switch that says “keep legal” or “change to full range”
How ever you have it set is probably wrong.Glenn

so you can read from those drives, you just cant write to them…still sounds like a permissions problem.
How are the drives formatted?
If you look at the sharing for the drive, do you have full permission?Glenn

I guess it depends on your tree build. AFAIK, you can only have 1 projection source linked to any projection camera, but i see no reason you can’t combine shots together further down the pipeline. If you are trying to project 2 shots onto 1 object, that might be an issue, but if its green screen, it should just all come down to the comp at the end anyway correct?
Try the free version of fusion out and play with it.

The output from resolve would have started with the Avid roundtrip preset. I think I set it to DNX 175x, but i’d have to check.
Either way, it works fine before the upgrade, but constant crashes after.
I didn’t even have a chance to see how it worked on media previously created in Avid, as the clock was ticking.
I’ll have more time this week to try the upgrade again, test some other projects that are using the same workflow, and try the plugins out to see where the issue is happening.

You can certainly do camera projection in Fusion, but Fusion doesn’t yet (unless they snuck it in) have a 3D tracker. The tracking tool is just a point tracker. For 3D I use synth eyes and use its export to fusion setting.

You’ve tried multiple computers…have you tried a different drive? Sounds like a permission issue, or simply a drive on its last leg.
Plug in a new drive and try again…or try a test to your desktop.
