you can always upgrade your dongle…avid is pretty good about that.
Whether your system can handle it depends on your system…you gave no specs. More than likely you would need some new hardware.

If you want solutions for drive speeds…it might help to tell us what your drive setup is. If internal…stripe a couple/3 of them together and your numbers will increase.
If esata, than the esata card will have a big influence…cheaper card…cheaper performance.
Lots of possibilities…just takes time, money, and testing

Have you checked the speed of your drives with the black magic speed test utility…is it possible a single..slower drive just doesn’t have the throughput.

Yes…same as opening a bin from your attic…as far as avid is concerned its the same bin…and you can only open it once at a time. Once your updated bin is built…check it…if it all seems correct I would get rid of the original bin…everybody should be using the new one from now on.
Having two copies of the same bin will only confuse matters. If at some point you need to go back to the original, you should be able to get it from the attic.If you are really worried, make a folder called ‘original stills bin. Put your original bin in it and tuck it away somewhere with a text document explaining what you did and why you did it.
Second option is to make a new bin and move the contents from your original to it…and name it something obvious…personally I think this also leads to confusion eventually.
Nothing bugs me more than duplicate bins…that 6 months from now nobody knows why we built them in the first place.

just to clarify that your versions are what you have been told they are.
I’m assuming you are in an NTSC country
Are you playing vhs’ through a box that can handle pal VHS tapes? If you are, then great, if you are just playing it in a good old fashioned VHS machine, than, it shouldn’t be able to play a PAL tape.
The fact that it is playing a PAL vhs, has me wondering if the tape is a PAL converted to NTSC, and that is why it is playing on your tv.
As far as i know, you shouldn’t be able to play a PAL vhs tape on an NTSC machine, in an NTSC country, and see a picture on an NTSC TV.
Try setting your decklink to NTSC and run the PAL tape through it.

You can also avoid all the option clicking…there is a setting under “bin”
“Double click loads object in” can be set to “new popup window”

Couple of things you can try.
easiest is probably to promote your key element to 3d, then activate the defocus controls within the 3d panel that becomes available to you.
you could also try adding a blur effect to the alpha and fill independently of each other. (double click the key to open up its nest (looks just like the screen grab you have supplied) and add the blur to both items that are showing in the video tracks above.
You would probably blur 1 item…set your keyframe effect, and then copy that blur to the second item.
I would try the 3d promotion first.

Avid did add tabs in Version 6 (i think it was 6.0)
Just open two bins…click and drag the name area of one of the bins, and drop it next to the name area on another bin. Do this as much as you like. Set up multiple bins each with multiple tabs.

Are you sure Avid is not looking in the 6.5 projects folder, instead of the 6.0 projects folder?
the uninstall of Avid won’t delete the project folders, or any contents in it. Also, it won’t move them from
one folder to another. Your new installation of Avid is going to default to a shared folder based on media composer 6.5. There is probably still a 6.0 folder nearbyGlenn

Unfortunately, i was hoping for the other answer…it would have been easier to say that is your problem.
I have done quite a bit of RedCine to mxf into MC as you are doing…even using an external wave soundtrack for my audio, and have never had the sync issue you are describing.
