Nice find Daniel.
Considering the SAN solution that John Davidson and Bob Zelin just shared, this could really be something.
If you can set up a 10GB LAN using only TB and be able to share projects, That would be perfect for a small shop like mine with three seats and an mac mini server.

[Oliver Peters] “Sadly no. I’m editing that project with proxy clips generated from RED camera files. These were exported from Redcine X Pro. It can superimpose the clip name and TC as burn-ins in the rendered file.”
Boy I was all excited when I saw that. Oh well, maybe with 10.1

Hi Oliver,
Is the time code info you have in the viewer all from the Timecode generator or is there another way to display the timecode and clip info?
Cheers,

I tried to open a .mts file from an AVCHD camera folder and QuickTime wouldn’t open it.
But when I insert and SD card it sees the “private” folder and lets you open it with QuickTime to view the videos. But this doesn’t seem to work with archived folders.

March 23, 2012 at 6:13 pm in reply to: Thoughts on why FCP X is here to stay and the Mac Pro isn’t.Hi Tony,
I love the work flow you just described, I only wish it actually worked. I have been playing around with X on a few small projects and it is great. Fast edits and great for sorting media.
So I decided to give X a try with a three camera shoot of a live event with mixed formats. The Multicam worked pretty good, but I still had to go in and adjust a few shots. The further into the project I got, the more beach balls and the slower the system got. Try adding subtitles to a one hour multi cam project and the lag time is crazy. In the end, I just exported what I could, and finished it in FCP7
The sad thing is there are a lot of things to like about X and for some projects, it is the right tool to use. When I am working with 7 I find myself wishing certain things were more like X. In my experience, the workflow you described would end up in a train wreck with X.
I do have hope for X with one or two more updates.

Hi Mark,
What model Axis web cam did you use? I have a client that wants to do a four day outdoors time lapse and I am trying to figure out what my best option would be.
Thanks,

Thanks Mark, I appreciate your help.
I have been reading the manual, though not cover to cover. And I have a gone through two of Ripple Training’s series. There is a lot of new and different stuff and some of it takes a lot to sink in.

I figured out I can do it in the inspector window. It sure seems like there would be a more efficient way of doing it.
Cheers.

Thanks Mark, the “open in timeline” was what I was missing.
Now as far as riding the levels, what are the options for doing that? All I can figure out is how to adjust the entire track or use the range tool to select an area. Is there an easier way to bring down a track at a certain point, have it stay there and then bring it back up when I need it.
Cheers,

Well Audio isn’t my strong suite, so it might be more than one frame, but it is noticeable. If I adjust the cuts to happen during a pause, then you can’t tell. The same file plays fine outside of the multi-cam clip. I even tried some J and L cuts with the some shots and that plays through fine. It’s just the multi-cam clips. I am just wondering if anyone else had the same problem?
I am going to be working on some short interviews later today or tomorrow so I will see if I have the same problem.
