I’m hopeful the ability to record the Resolve Project file along with the Program master finds it’s way to the ATEM Mini Pro. It would be great to have that file and then sync camera originals.

Thanks Craig, I only mentioned the website because it could be in indication that they are no longer developing the product. A recent update could just be a bug fix. The promo video for trackX is three years old.
It seems reasonable to ask around a bit before buying.

Those discussions usually revolve around how the programs related to the work of video editors. In a FCP forum every thread is going to be discussed from the editors perspective.
I think you might find the discussion you are looking for in the Illustrator or Photoshop forum.

I wouldn’t switch just because a few new guys know Premier better.
As for NAS, there are some pretty solid solutions for FCPX so that shouldn’t be a problem.
Depending on what you use After Effects for, you might be better off using Motion with FCP. That would be an easier and more cost effective switch than going to Premier.
I have projects and custom Motion Templates set up for my recurring clients and I can finish most projects without opening Motion. Now it’s real easy to make sure any editor that opens the project has the Motion files to go with it.

Have you considered backing up your home drive to a drive at your office and the office drive to a drive at home? That would give you two copies off all media and easy access to the back up if you needed it.

I think the analogy works as well as word processor. Data entry or word processor was just a key pusher, a learned skill but it doesn’t require talent or artistic expression.
If all you do is push buttons and don’t add some level of creativity and expertise then, yes, a high school kid can do your job.
A fast food joint is a matter of convince, a fine restaurant is an experience. And editing will be the same. Some will edit on their iMac or iPad, some will go to Craig’s List to find some one cheap to edit, and other’s will still want and need the expertise and creativity of a professional.
There maybe more editors out there now, but there is even more content.

I know the clean instal helps but I a surprised at how much faster both FCP and Motion are now. I was worried the 3d text would be to painfully slow to be useful, but it works great.

You beat me to it!

I did a clean instal of Yosemite and 10.2 on a 2008 Mac Pro and it has been running great. I haven’t tried any 3D text yet but multicam and color correction working great.
Bad news is my esata card isn’t working and I might have to go back to Mavericks
