Do you think this expression could be adapted to make a kind of “spring inertia” to the rotation of a layer ?
What i’d like to do is to automaticaly make a layer rotate when the layer moves (as if the acceleration makes it turn) and when it stops, the layer turns back to its position, but further than the initial position because of the inertia, then back again etc … untill it finally stops turning.
this could be hepful to bring some elasticity to character animation
Thanx !

you may use the ValueAtTime , and link the position of object 1 to position of object2 at time+ n frames

great ! it absolutely works !
but i don’t understand how ….
the menu in AE shows toComp(point,t=time) … and here you give me toComp([0,0,0]) ?
Do you mean we convert the [0,0,0] local coordinates of the layer to the 2D coordinates of the comp ? (using active camera and current time). This mean that, if it’s nor a light but a layer, i use the upper left corner ?
Thank you very much for some explanations ….

i use avid codec everyday (import clips exported from avid with “same as source” option) with audio, and export with the same codec (2:1 interlaced) : never had a problem with it, not more crashes than with another codec.
(except once : exported as progressive, and it caused a pc based avid to mismatch colors – solved using interlaced) -
ok …. but the strange thing is that, if i put a keyframe, and copy it to the other keyframe layer, the font information is correctly transferred :
the conclusion for me is that the copy/paste of the information through a keyframe has not the same result than linking trough an expression – strange no ? at a “logical level”, you can consider this as a “bug” ?

i use sebi talker : i do a loop with 4-5 mouth positions, and after that, i manually put the silences where it’s needed, and some visible sounds too ( a long “o”, an expressive “i”)… i really did it a lot of time, and it works good. You really don’t need to be perfectly synchronous with each phoneme …

i spent more than 10 years working on quantels … and definitely stopped using it 3 years ago, after a 2 years transition period. Today, i do all the work i did before on AE/Photoshop/illustrator/C4D. I work faster anfd better. And easier.
For me, quantel is stone age …

sometimes, it’s cool to use a roud mask : you don’t have corners, and for me, it simulates the horizon better : the horzon has no corners, it’s round !
