Expression ? how to link a font ?
Hi everybody !
I’d like to link the font used in a text layer with another text layer … but when i link it, all i get is the same charcter string, but no change to the font !?
Is there another way to link the font used ?
And sorry if the question was debated before, i didn’t find it with the search option ……

No. Those parameters are not supported by expressions. Sorry buddy, manual is the way to go. Keep in mind that you can select multiple layers and change all their font properties in unison.

ok …. but the strange thing is that, if i put a keyframe, and copy it to the other keyframe layer, the font information is correctly transferred :
the conclusion for me is that the copy/paste of the information through a keyframe has not the same result than linking trough an expression – strange no ? at a “logical level”, you can consider this as a “bug” ?

Not a bug. It’s just that Adobe hasn’t implemented the Javascript that allows this to be defined, such as “fontStyle” or “fontWeight”.
If you think it should be implemented, then email Adobe requesting this feature (I sure have).

No, it is not a bug nor illogical. Font properties are stored in the source text keyframes. They are simply not accessible by expressions or scripts. If they were, it would have to be something like
sourceText.fontFace
or
sourceText[fontFace,fontWeight,fontSize]
