I have FCPX and just haven’t learned it yet. I cant even view the non 4K footage, MP4LPCM 50M. Compressor 3 doesn’t even recognize it and stream clip doesn’t seem to recognize it as well. I want to convert it there so I can put it on my FCP 7 pro res timeline. I am finishing an 5 year old doc that is a FCP7 project with new GH4 footage shot 1080 3P MP4n LPCM 50m. Should download compressor 4.1 and convert there so I can use in FCP 7? I am going to learn FCP X but don’t have time right now

You know, I do a total media empty when formatting before each job. actually, it started loading all of the other wedding. I just ended it and looked at a couple of those files and then deleted. But /this was a new project and empty browser. I can’t imagine how I could have been linked to anything else. It’s like the computer and FCP 7 just went looking on my computer for all ProRes LT files it could find. Actually, that prores file folder was on an external Drive. I am still at a loss

So I get doing that in the log and transfer window, but this was a folder in another project folder. Still a bit confused. Could you explain further. I’m a little slow on the grasp tonight. I appreciate your help.

thanks Nick. Actually, what I did was start a new project and re capture everything. Problem was gone with the new project and all clips were in there proper order. I guess it was a corrupt project. I don’t think FCP 7 (or X) will be long for this world for me. I just can’t wrap myself around X (professionally) and 7 is just old and outdated. Plus, No Blu ray Authoring anywhere in the Final Cut mix. I think my next step is Premiere Pro. I really need Encore as well. Hate Toast for BluRay Authoring. I’ll be sad to leave FCP but been sort of forced into it. Held out as long as I could

as an example in the finder I have folder for each tape captured. They are numbered wedding tape 1-1 wedding tape 1-2 and so on chronologically. When I import the folder and look at the drop down menu they are tape 1-1 then 1-10 and it it all over the place like that. when placed on timeline they are out of order as well. Here is the really weird thing. I decided to go straight from the finder to the timeline and they are out of order as well. But when I place individual clips in order manually one at a time. On the timeline, the clips no longer have numbers. example, tape 1- then again tape 1 for next clip where it should read tape 1 then next clip tape 1-1. I have done this hundreds of times and this has never happened. I always capture now entire tape

Has anyone answered this print to video question. I shoot weddings and have to send in tapes to wedding companies. I have to print to video. I know it’s dark ages stuff but it is my bread and butter so I have to have this question answered before I buy.

I am really confused. I just got that same protection note on my Mac pro FCP that I have been using for 3 years. I just bought a macbook pro a couple of days ago and apple (geniuses and one to one trainer) installed it on my book as well saying it was ok to run on two of your own computers. They ended up using the same password as my mac pro because they couldn’t reach me when doing this data and application install. Am I too doing something illegal. I would hate to have to purchase another FCP. It seems strange that apple would install something illegal. Any suggestions on what I should do

That is frustrating. I have a one on one with my FCP trainer and Genius bar and they think they have cracked it. I’m going in next week so I will let you know what they say and if their plan works.
