October 28, 2019 at 4:18 pm in reply to: FCP X 10.4.7 great improvement on iMac Pro but not on MacPro TrashcanThat’s right but it seems that the T2 chip is wake up now with the last update of FCP-X.
With precedent version (FCP-X 10.4.5) XAVC-L have lost frames during play and edit despite T2 was here… -

October 28, 2019 at 10:06 am in reply to: FCP X 10.4.7 great improvement on iMac Pro but not on MacPro TrashcanI’m talking about simply ingesting and playing media.
We are working with Sony FS7 and 4k XAVC-LongGop, one iMacPro (Radeon Pro Vega 64 16 Gb, 64 Gb Ram) and one MacPro trashcan (2 D700 6Gb Ram, 64 Gb Ram), Areca Thunderbolt 3 (with thunderbolt 2 adapter for trashcan) Raid-5, 8 slot tower. Before the last update we ingested and work XAVC-LongGop with optimized codec (ProRes) for cut and playing without lag or frame drop.
Now like a magic, the iMacPro can work without optimized codec but simply ingesting the XAVC-LongGop. This magic don’t happens on Trashcan, everything here remains the same.

We work a lot of XAVC-L footage but need proxy because always built a multicam clip with 8 tracks.
The clips are on RAID-5 tower with Thunderbolt 2 and connected to MacPro 2013 8-core/AMD D500.
The proxy work like a charm with all effects like color correction, slow motion, masks, ecc but when we switch to original XAVC-L there are lags, specially on clips with effects, rendering don’t help so much.
Sometimes the footage are in XAVC-I and all is better

We have some Sony FS7 in house and F55 at rent.
A lot of lens like Canon CN-E 30-300mm and Sigma 120-300mm for live events (Opera live = long time duration).
All the footage shooting in UHD/4K 50p XAVC-L/-I.
Editing on Imac 27″ late 2013 and Mac Pro “black basket” with n. 4 Areca thunderbolt 2 Raid 5 (Tot 112 Tb).
Fcp X work better with XAVC-I than XAVC-L but the best is ProRes.
Multicam with proxy is the standard.
We waiting a new Mac Pro with more power and a new FCP x with more audio features.

January 4, 2016 at 11:32 am in reply to: FCPX Exported image sequence are not goodthanks Jeremy for the answer,
I’m saying about the simple exported image (TIFF, PSD, or others) before Photoshop processing.
If I reimport in fcpx this simple image the levels are different from the original clip

December 30, 2015 at 10:13 am in reply to: FCPX Exported image sequence are not goodThanks a lot Gary.
I’ve esported the frames in various format: TIFF, PNG, PSD, etc. but it’s the same.
I mustn’t print the images.
I must to correct some imperfections frame by frame with Photoshop and then reimport.
If I reimport the frames and put over the original clip it’s all ok but the black level is over!I have done that many times with FCP7 and different HD formats (XDCAM, ProRes) and it was perfect.
Now with FCPX and 4k I can’t make the same workflow.
I need to search an explanation before changing. -
Black Magic just released a 9.2 Beta that works with FCPX 10.0.3 output is only NTSC SD but if you activate A/V mode in the “Window” Menu it works with a little frame skipping. Still beta though
I don’t find this “A/V mode” under “Window” menu in FCPX 10.0.3.
The output video don’t work with BMD 9.2beta drivers
Can you help me please? ThanksGiampaolo

Is there another way without fill the rendering hard disk (like FCP7)?Giampaolo
