I thought this sounded familiar. I still have clients who ask for authored DVDs, and DVD Studio Pro still works just fine.

    TKY Subtitler Effect

You don’t have to worry about Motion as it installs as a title in FCP X, showing up in your Titles browser. It’s simple to use. You can even copy your translated text from a document and paste it in. Any accents will be included. Just drag the title to the clip you want to subtitle on the Timeline. The controls mentioned below are located in the Inspector.

    Here are instructions from fcp.co

Instead of having to add, scale and position this box manually, this title effect does it all in one.

The subtitle sits comfortably in the safe title area, although it can also be racked up and down vertically as required.

You can choose the scale of the box in relation to the text, both horizontally and vertically.

You can also adjust the box colour (it defaults to a dark gray), as well as the box opacity if you want it semi-transparent.

And of course the main advantage is that the box will automatically scale as you add more text.

Unzip and copy the entire folder into your User/Movies/Motion Templates/Titles folder.

This one is free. Text box grows as you type. You have the option of changing font, font colour and text box colour. But the default white text on a light gray box works quite well.

It is a free download. I’ve used it to create French subtitles over an English interview. Works like a charm.

    Try TKY Subtitler Effect:

I have just used it to create French subtitles on English interviews for a project in FCP X. You can change the font, font size, as well as the colour of the background box.

[Craig Seeman] “I’m not sure comparing to the price of FCPX is fair though. If you’re a professional who needs the plugins, the value is in the plugins themselves. The “platform” doesn’t make the R&D and less valuable and, in some cases, FCPX compatibility may actually be harder.”

I won’t dispute the value of BCC. Perhaps we can say that FCP X is a bargain at $299. The fact that Boris has added support for FCP X is further validation of the editing platform.
