    Thanks for all that info.
I went for a 4 Terabyte G-RAID in RAID 0, and also two 1 Terabyte G-Drives, one for the Media Cache and one for the Export/Previews. I read what you said about not needing multiple drives AFTER I bought these. But interestingly enough, it “seems” faster to edit when the Media Cache is not on the same drive as my Raw video files and Project Files. Maybe I’m wrong, don’t know.
I’m backing up all three drive enclosures to other drives constantly during editing, so I’m ok as I use a home safe and an off-site place for the backups.
This setup, editing in Premier Pro CC 2015 is faster than the Sans Digital 5 Bay RAID 0 setup that I had using an eSata PCIexpress card (using USB 3.0), as I can preview in real time a 1/2 resolution, which I couldn’t do before.
    Thanks again for your help!

    Thanks Jeff!
I only continued with Windows Media HD because the You Tube suggestions and the presets in Premier Pro for You Tube H.264 all made the videos play kinda weird and herky jerky on my computer, so I never wanted to upload them like that to You Tube. The Win Med Hi Def files all looked beautiful on You Tube. I never figured out why, but instead just kept uploading those types. Thanks again.

    Thanks Joe.
I have a Blu Ray burner now, so should I just burn the Hi Def Windows Media files to a Blu Ray disc? Will the quality be equal to running from a laptop?

I’d like to avoid leaving a laptop running and sometimes unattended on the floor of the convention in NYC.

    Thanks again.

November 9, 2015 at 2:44 pm in reply to: PPro CC 2015 Folder Structure?

Thanks so much. Question. Can I also then just copy a cards full file folder structure with only the video files I want (say for a specific date, while leaving the other dated video files alone), to a new location for importing into PPro CC 2015 and that would be sort of the same thing? I mean, any spanned video files would play back properly in PPro because the file folders and structure are intact, except of course for the other video files that I just left on the card that are for a different project?
    Thanks again.

  • Hi, I was wondering if you upgraded to Premier Pro CC 2014 and if so, does the Boris effects still work with that lower version that tech support told you to install.
I had Continuum 8 working in CC, but can’t get it to be recognized in Premier Pro CC 2014.

Thanks again, Alex. Yes, I do have a backup program that I use every couple of minutes during an edit.

Finally, do you see the below setup as being efficient for use with Premier Pro CC 2014? I’ve gotten so much different advice.

Make sure Pagefile is NOT on C: SSD

4 Terabyte RAID 0 – Media and Projects

240 Gig RAID 0 – Pagefile, Media Cache

Bottom Bay SSD 250 – Previews, Exports

    I appreciate your help.

    Thanks, Alex.

Yes, exports seem to be the same speed when targeting the SSD or the SATA platter drive in my eSata enclosure. I thought I had read here somewhere that I’d see a speed increase.

Also, I’ve set up my High Point Rocket Raid 642L paired with my 5 drive Sans Digital enclosure (eSata cable connnection to my computer) like Harm M. had suggested below for Premier Pro CC 2014:

Make sure Pagefile is NOT on C: SSD

4 Terabyte RAID 0 – Media and Projects

240 Gig RAID 0 – Pagefile, Media Cache

Bottom Bay SSD 250 – Previews, Exports

Of course, from my initial post, you’ll see that I have plenty of backup drives in the computer and will configure them as such to protect the above setup.

I’m hoping that with the tweaking of the CPU and Window OS software (Viper recommendations), that this newly built system will finally give me the smooth, reasonable speed I need to edit.

Finally, I read here that someone said a Rocket Raid 640L is to setup a “Software RAID” and it’s not really a true “Hardware RAID”. That’s confusing to me because I thought a software RAID was what you setup in Windows 7 via the “Manage Disks” feature and that’s why I bought this. I figure a card = hardware.

I’ve Googled this and can’t get a clear explaination. Would you know?

    Thanks again.

Thanks, Ryan. Tech support never mentioned that during our phone call. Take care.
