  • Thanks again, everyone.
Yes, my Media Cache is now on the system drive, that’s a ssd.
And I’d like to RAID my 4 internal drives on my Asus Maximus IV Extreme Z motherboard (which was almost $400.), but even after spending all of that money, the onboard RAID never worked for me during setup, even with flashing the bios and doing everything I was told. That’s why I was looking at the card.

  • I was advised today to either:

Buy a RAID card, pciExpress and use two of my internal Hard Drives

Buy a Gtech enclosure with two drives and use the USB 3.0 connection

Use the RAID controller on my Asus Etreme Maximus high end motherboard.

    Any opinions would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

  • Hey, thanks so much, everyone.

OK, I think I’m going to take my two 7200 rpm disks and use them as a RAID 0.

I guess I need an enclosure and if anyone has a recommendation for a RAID card (I’d need a PCI express card for Win 7 Pro) that would be great. I’ve seen ones in the $300.00 range both with 512 megs and 1 Gig of memory, I “assume” the 1 Gig of memory card would make things faster?).

My only questions to this setup are below:

A SSD is my boot drive and that’s were Adobe CC is, and I have four other drives in my system now. I’m guessing that I just store all of my project and project files on the actual RAID drive and edit there? If so, do I then backup to one of the 4 drives I have installed aready?

Also, where would be the best place to store the Cache files and should I then render to a separate drive to “from ” the RAID drives?

Am I missing anything that would also help speed things up?

    Thanks.
