In Premier CC, will using a separate Scratch Disk really speed things up?
Hi,
Sorry if this has been answered, but after poking around, I’m still not clear.
I have a new Windows 7 Pro machine with 16 gigs of memory and a SSD for a boot disk. Nothing but Adobe CC Suite on it.
I have four separate internal SATA 7200 rpm drives in the system.
I’ve edited several HD videos from 3 to 13 minutes long and all is well, although after I have transitions and effects in the project, my previews are not as smooth as I’d like. I have set the playback resolution to 1/4, and that helps.
My question is, will I benefit from setting up a Scratch disk? If so, for what? Cache files, preview files?
I just want to find out the best way to have a speedier system.
Thanks.
