    Thanks for the quick response.

I don’t know what the percentage will turn out to be, but I’d guess it will be DVCPro 75%.

Is there much difference between editing in DVCPro and ProRes with these mixed sources?

Interesting thought. Will check out how many photos it will take; I’ve got a bunch, along with audio.

    Thanks for the suggestion.

I’m operating in the Quicktime Player. I did manage to change the aspect ratio in QT 7 Pro by setting it to 853 X 480, but if I save that file and then open it in Leopard’s Quicktime Player it remains 4:3. Before uploading to Vimeo I’d like to be sure that it will display as 16:9, and Vimeo says aspect ratio should be set before uploading.

Can you explain more what you mean by recapture? Log and Transfer brings in clips the same as they were shot. Is it possible to transcode their time base in that process?

    Benjamin,
I’ve got someone working on a Motion template. The two main challenges appear to be…

    1. how to keep it interesting in a shorter length. I’m looking for a 30 sec effect; Mosaic defaults to 1:30 and doesn’t look as magical in its fastest setting of :23.

    2. how to make the morph back to a single photo work well.

Will let you know what we discover.

    Thanks,

    Gerret

Thanks for taking the time to analyze the issue.

The P2720/24PN came first and is the look I’d prefer to maintain–better camera, better color, etc.

According to Graeme Nattress “Standards Converter with G Film Converter, NTSC to Film option” will convert the 1080i footage to 24.

If I do as planned, maintaining 24, the question is whether to edit on a 720 or 1080-size frame, and which ProRes codec to use. (I have Video Purifier which claims to be the best choice for changing frame size).

The final output will be on a large screen.

    Thanks again

    It’s 24PN.

Finally it all makes some sense. Thanks again to you both.

It looks as if MXF import allows you to edit MXF inside FCP without taking up hard drive space with Quicktimes in Capture Scratch. Does it work?

    As I thought, Shane.

    Thanks
