I’m confused…and concerned now that I’ve shot a bunch of 8-gig cards. I copied many of them via the card slot on my G4 laptop and others I copied from our P2 Store.
I’m about to import them into FCP and this thread makes it sound as if I may have trouble with the import. I’ve tested several cards before and didn’t have any problems.
Should I be concerned?

David,
Many thanks for that. My test today confirms what you said. Thanks too for the warning about buying a card. Without it it’s almost impossiblel to shoot for several hours of exteriors without buying or renting more P2 cards, and who wants to buy cards now, when 16 gig cards will probably be out within the year.

Do you mean use the laptop backup alone, without the P2 Store at all? I bought the P2 Store so that I didn’t have to set up my laptop every time I wanted to dump the P2 cards. Especially when shooting exteriors, that’s a real momentum breaker.

I’ve just bought a P2 Store and am about to test it before shooting next week. I want to dump all footage from the P2 Store to my G4 17″ laptop, but I now see that the P2 Store uses USB 2 and it looks as if my laptop has USB only. Am I in trouble?

I read in another thread that Firestore records 24p (non-native) and that the resulting files lose sync when importing into FCP? Is there any way around that problem. Sounds like a serious limitation, and makes me not want to use my new FS-100 with the maiden voyage of our HVX200.

Thanks, Shane.
I’ve just ordered a Firestore-100 and haven’t received it yet, but I wonder if you have experience importing files from it. Does it create 1 “Contents” foldler and text file like a card… or a bunch of them. I’d guess it does and that copying the whole drive to a folder on my archive drive is what I should do… unless you or others know of a better flow.

Thanks for the feedback. I’m anxious to figure this out asap, before an upcoming shoot.
I don’t have my HVX200 manual available right now but here’s what a sales person told me: the HVX resolves at about 540/500, the 900 is 1,024 x 768, so you pay a lot for the monitor, and you can’t take advantage of either its higher resolution or SDI interface. But I didn’t realize it would take component HD.
So I wondered whether there was an alternative, like the Nebtek Marshall combo. It isn’t only price for the 900, it’s also that they seem to be in short supply.

I was going to but I 1. the monitor’s resolution is far above that of the 200 and 2. AFAIK there’s no way to get HD out/in; just component. And then, of course, there’s the $4k or thereabouts. But I’m very interested in other’s experience & opinion.
