The HVX200 is a remarkable tool, but it’s taking awhile to figure out the whole process from camera menu through P2 archive… as I wait for my copy of Barry Green’s book. The manual is pretty terse, if accurate. Having bought P2 Log, I can now rename/delete/export to XML. But I’m wondering if anyone has recommendations of workflow for archiving the MXF files to a separate drive, since these are source footage and irreplaceable. It would appear that each dump from P2 cards or Firestore should be to a separate folder (labeled by day or half day or scenes). But I’m theorising. Any advice would be very welcome before we start a big project next week.

    Thanks, Shane.

I’ve just ordered a Firestore-100 and haven’t received it yet, but I wonder if you have experience importing files from it. Does it create 1 “Contents” foldler and text file like a card… or a bunch of them. I’d guess it does and that copying the whole drive to a folder on my archive drive is what I should do… unless you or others know of a better flow.

Never used the Firestore…never will. The P2 workflow works very well for us, and we need to shoot 24PN, something the Firestore cannot do.

Read the manual carefully. The Firestore requires that you prepare the footage as P2…to create the CONTENTS folder. If you don’t, things won’t import.
