That’s probably there on the TV version as well, but because it is in the “overscan” area, you don’t see it when viewing on a TV. When you play it on your computer, you get to see everything — all the way to the edges.
If you look close, you will see that the outer edges of your video are “cut off” when viewing on your TV.
You could crop out that section if it really bothers you — but keep in mind that depending on how you crop/scale it, you might see even less of your video when viewed on your TV…

Sometimes they need to be “Finalized” in the dvd recorder before you can do anything with them. Could that be the issue?

Depending on how complicated your menus are, you could author a “dummy” dvd project that has the replacement menus the way you want. It should have the same number of buttons, and in the same order as the originals…
Then you can use a free tool like PGCedit to replace the old menu with the new one (save the commands of the old menu, and after importing the new menu, replace the pgc commands with the original commands.
If you need to change the number of menu buttons, you will need to know more about how to control the buttons — for this you could still probably use PGCedit, but I would use DVD RemakePro…

Since you are PC based, Author your disc in ANY Authoring application you want, and burn the DVD to your hard drive. Then open it with the free utility PGCedit — it will let you enable/disable UOP’s 🙂

Is it crashing after 18 minutes all the time (are your drives NTFS or Fat32)?
What version are you running — 5.x, 6.0c, etc…?
Is it a DV Transfer your are trying to export?
Can you export the entire video into one DV .avi onto a hard drive, then just send that file to tape (instead of from a timeline)?

I beleive in DVDA3 you can also do “Chapter” Playlists — which would give you the ability to play everything, or a specific sequence of Chapter(s) within a Title.
IIRC, I got this to work with the Trial version (I no longer have access to the program because the Trial expired).

There’s a check box in the effect manager to toggle the effect on/off — is that what you are looking for?

For a PC solution, I would record with your DVD recorder, then import the video assets using something like Ulead’s DVD MovieFactory 4.0 (it will give you better menu options that the DVD Recorder’s basic menu).
Then create some menus and chapter buttons, and burn to disc (without re-encoding — assuming your dvd burner could fit the 2:37 onto a DVD5 disc).

How long is the “plus”? 2 hours plus 5 minutes? 2 hours plus 55 minutes? etc…
What type of burner/discs are you dealing with (DVD5, DVD9, etc…)?
