I’m so glad I found this board, I had a lot of fun reading the posts yesterday!
Now I have my own question…two actually but i’ll save it for another thread.

I’d like to make a button that allows the viewer to play all the chapters on the DVD while still allowing them to watch individual chapters. I know I can do this by just rendering the whole entire thing into one video, but I’d rather save disk space by having it point to them all in order and still be able to watch one at a time.
    I’m using DVD v 3.0c
I’ve scoured the internet and DVDA and I’m not finding anything.
    Thanks for any help!

By default, any button that points to a piece of media starts at chapter one and plays through to the end.

I think what you are really asking is how to create a button that plays different titles (different pieces of media). You can do this easily in DVDA3 by creating a Playlist.

When you right-click the Menu or Project Overview you have an option to Insert Playlist. That gives you a list of available media. You can editr the order on the Playlists tab (on the lower right).

Also seems like a good time for a shameless plug for my video, DVD Authoring with DVD Architect 3.0, available at VegasTrainingAndTools.com.

Absolutely that’s it I’m sure! I saw the playlist option but I guess it never dawned on me to try that out, LOL
It’s funny how you learn things when you do it on you’re own. Sometimes you learn the harder stuff and totally miss out on the basics.

Thank you for your quick response, and hopefully after this video I can afford to buy your training videos…I have been eyeing them! Small world too, having you answer my post. I was just telling my hubby about them this weekend.

I beleive in DVDA3 you can also do “Chapter” Playlists — which would give you the ability to play everything, or a specific sequence of Chapter(s) within a Title.

IIRC, I got this to work with the Trial version (I no longer have access to the program because the Trial expired).

To set a sequence of chapters in a playlist, you could add the same media multiple times in the Playlists tab, then set the start chapter for each instance in the Playlist Properties window.

Each one, however would play from that chapter to the end.

If you want to set it up so that only one chapter plays then something else happens, you add the media multiple times to the Project Overview, and for each instance, set the in and out points in the timeline window to coincide with that particular chapter.

Once that is set up, you can define the end action (what happens next) in Properties, or by using a Playlist.

Yes playlist is working perfectly for what I want to do.

    Thank you!

Thanks for the other suggestions as well, I will store them in the memory banks as I’m sure someday I’ll be needing them.
