There are different “modes” for burning — check if your burning software has a DVD-Video (or something similar) mode…

Put your overlay clip on top of the other tracks. Then hit the Track Motion icon (it’s to the left of each track, along with other icons that control different aspects of the track), and drag a corner to re-size it. You can also click-drag the box to position the overlay wherever you want…

It could just be the “Overscan” area. When you watch something on your computer, you see the entire picture — all the way to the outer edges. But when you watch that on a TV, the outer edges are “cut off” — the amount of “cut off” can vary from TV to TV (around 10 to 20 percent).

Whre is the thin line? If it’s along an outer edge, then it won’t be viewable during playback. Or you might be able to crop it out.
Or is it in a very viewable area?

I don’t have Encore (hopefully someone will chime in), but doing a web search, I found this bullet item as a feature for Encore 2.0
-Menu Control: specify the number of times that a menu should loop. Set a menu to time out and navigate to another part of the disc

I would go with Dolby Digital audio.
What bitrate did you use for the Video, and how does the quality look?

This sounds like a menu timeout function, then set the button to activate when the menu hits the timeout threshold.
What package are you using to do your DVD Authoring?

What type of audio are you using? And do you have multiple audio tracks? If multiple audio tracks, are the tracks different (i.e. some Dolby, some LPCM, some mpeg, etc…)?
One 2-Hr 20-min Dolby Digital audio track at 224kbps should be around 230MB.

Author your DVD in your regular Authoring package, and burn the DVD Folders to your hard drive.
Then open the DVD with PGCedit. Double-click the Title in the left pane (you can verify the title by single-clicking it, then hitting the EYE icon along the toolbar to preview the title). Then in the top-left area of the popup window, you will see “Prohibited User Operations” — click the little box with the 3 dots on it, and a new window pops up for you to designate which operations to block. Save it, and you are on your way…
Do a Trial run on a test DVD (or backup DVD Folder) to see if it works for you…

Was just curious if Authoring in Scenarist was a requirement?
