Which version of Encore are you running?

I’m not sure what other features the Hotel Lobby playback systems offer, but in Encore 2.0 to create an auto-play/loop DVD-VIDEO disc, just make the FIRST-PLAY be the Timeline with the Video. And set the END-ACTION for the Timeline be itself.

How about just creating 5 separate timelines (one for each video clip — or Title). Then your menu buttons just link to the appropriate timeline, and the Timeline End Action goes back to the menu.

Select a chapter, and under the Chapter properties set the END-ACTION to go back to the menu.

Which version of Encore are you using? You could use Chapter END-LINKS, or Chapter Playlists in Encore DVD 2.0

Depends on how you want your DVD to play — if you need a PLAY-ALL, or if you always want to return to the menu after chapter play…

What are the properties of your source videos (where are they coming from)?

To get it onto DVD (for playback in a DVD Player), DVDA will adjust it to dvd-compliant resolution.

So the rendering will have to be done at some point (to 720×480 in your example). If you mean from the Vegas timeline, then you can get more control (advanced options for rendering) going from the Vegas Timeline to dvd-compliant mpeg. But it won’t help to upscale if your original source video is DV (or less).

at the top left corner at videohelp.com, there is a link to “WHAT IS” (and select the DVD Link). that will give you some ideas on valid resolutions/bitrates for DVD.

You can also use Vegas to render out dvd-compliant mpegs (using the appropriate dvd template).

There’s also a bitrate calculator at videohelp.com that helps you determine proper bitrates to use based on your video duration.

What are you burning (DVD Folders, DVD IMAGE file, or other)? And what type of disc are you burning to? Have you ever burned successfully before, or is this the first time you are burning to DVD disc?

You might try IMGBURN to burn from DVD Folders or DVD Image file.

That’s your reason — DivX and XVid are heavily compressed. They are not DVD-Compliant, and so DVDA is telling you how much space will be needed after re-encoding them to dvd-compliant mpeg. The space is roughly your total video duration times your video+audio bitrates (assuming single angle video).

What are the properties of your source file? How long is it, and what are its video and audio properties?

DVDLAb Pro 2.x does not have a realtime project preview. You can burn to hard drive using the “TEST COMPILE” option — this will do a quick compile and substitute the video titles with smaller dummy files. You won’t get a true representation of the entire dvd, but it will give you an idea of how the menu navigation will work.

You also have several project reporting options (Project / Generate Report). This will give you an overview of your project assets, menus, buttons, etc…
