Rob’s last point was worth the price of reading this whole thread. If the DVD is not supposed to loop in a booth, for instance, then black at the start and end to allow a player to sit on pause. or even just play without the dumb player screen saver is vital for playback flexibilty.
This had never occurred to me until I saw a client start a DVD, pause it, and then hold a card over the lens of the projector waiting for the right time to start the clip.

November 12, 2008 at 6:54 pm in reply to: How to make my Adobe premiere pro video clearer on youtube?h264 – 1 megabit per second 320×240. This is a preset in CS3, I have tried larger frame sizes but that seems not to make any difference except longer to upload. I did find wmv to be less than stellar. See CanadaArtChannel YouTube channel, recent clips for examples. The Odjig clip was done using the CS3 preset, the other recent ones were done by hand Joe Fafrad was done at 3 mbps. ( I had not discovered the preset then) McMichael art goes to Washington was done at 480×360 in QuickTime Sorensen. Compare the tenabe clip at canadaartchannel with the tenabe clip at the BeachDigital channel. the BeachDigital channel used 512 kbps wmv, the canadaartchannel clip used Sorensen. The Jeff Thomas clip on BeachDigital also used wmv.
The wmv were all 15 fps. The others are 30 fps.
Unrelated to encoding, putting the camera on a tripod would help as otherwise a lot of bandwidth is wasted encoding the minute
background motion. No more 640×480 clips on line. Sorry.

duplicate audio track. on the first fill left, on the second fill right. Probably adjust volume as required. These are stereo audio effects.

Are you using a Sony V1U downconverting to DV? I get annoying click everywhere with this camera.

VideoLan VLC – simple to use, erightsoft SUPER, more complex. more options, more invalid choice possibilities, better quality.
Edits like a charm in PPRO CS3 using custom desktop video editing mode.
For those doubting that this can be worthwhile, the Enron Smartest Guys movie grossed $4 million and was made up almost entirely of what appear to be Real Media clips from the 90’s. YouTube quality is usually much higher, especially recent uploads.

Curious. That camera, according to the JVC website, records 25mbps HDV like very other HDV camera. How can it output any better quality than any other camera with the same lens? Isn’t all HDV 4:2:2? All compressed according to the same formula? The signal out the SDI port playing back from tape would be the same signal out the FW port on any other camera? The Sony EX1 at least records at 35 mbps. The Sony V1 send uncompressed out the HDMI port, but if playing back from tape, then the “uncompressed” signal was of course compressed earlier on already. DVCPro50 is certainly even better than anything at 25mbps and is not interframe compressed to boot. Or what am I missing.
