That kind of stuff tends to be done frame by frame. Unfortunately, there’s not really an easy way to do it. A lot of people just draw each frame in photoshop by hand

The biggest thing to understand about RAW is that it captures sensor data. When you’re shooting in h.264, you encoding to a compressed format, so your pushing your colors to certain restrictions. RAW is awesome because you can change your exposure and all sorts of things after the fact. It also tends to be less contrasty which is better for color grading because you have more latitude to push your colors where you want. 2k res will always be 2k, so there isn’t really any scaling advantage.
Read this for your bit question:

no, 18mm is 18mm – that’s the width. Your lens already covers that width. If you want wider, you’d have to go with some like a 16 or 14mm.

June 5, 2014 at 3:39 pm in reply to: Linking effect’s layer select to another layer control?Thought of an easier way, but not sure if it will do what you want.
You can effect the opacity of the solid layer itself. So put the effect on the solid and add a slider control on an adjustment layer and add this expression to the opacity of the solid. You’ll need to manually change the compound arithmetic on each solid though.
Now just set your slider to the layer number you want to be visible.
on=100;
off=0;
slider=thisComp.layer("Adjustment Layer 1").effect("Slider Control")("Slider");
if (slider==index) on else off“|_ (°_0) _|”

June 5, 2014 at 3:00 pm in reply to: Linking effect’s layer select to another layer control?Hmm…not gunna be that easy since you cant apply an expression directly to the second source layer. Maybe you could apply multiple instances of compound arithmetic to the adjustment layer as well as a slider control and reference the various versions of effects by their index with an if else statement depending on the number of that slider control – ie when slider control is at 1 the effect with index 1 is active and all else are off.
Not sure if there is a better way, but that miiiiight do the trick.

June 3, 2014 at 5:23 pm in reply to: Lighting problem. How do you fix bad lighting in film footage??Scott, you shouldn’t need to roto anything. You should just isolate the channels by color and affect them like that. Try duplicating the footage and using the extract filter to pull our the various colors, and then affect them from there.
You can’t reposition lights. All you can really do is duplicate footage, isolate the parts you want to work on and change it. You can try masking out some shadows, feathering it, and bringing them to a brighter level, but this could get messy really quickly.
