I’m not totally sure what you’re trying to accomplish. This is probably closer. Please include a screen shot with further description of how you’d like it to move if this doesn’t work. This expression will give you a diagonal motion because it is adding and subtracting the x and y values together, if you want them to act independently, you’ll need something different.

Ya, the tricky part is that since he’s a dancer, he’s likely moving different parts of his body in different directions.
You could try doing some camera tracking with different parts of the body, like and arm, for example, and then parent the clips on his arm to the null. The problem besides having to track a bunch of different parts of the body is that the clips would have a very rigid movement.
Maaaaaaybe there is something you can do with a sampleimage expression where you check the alpha channel and if it reads it as nothing there it moves the the footage – but that would be really tricky and might actually have terrible results. Could be worth asking in the expression forum though.
But to be honest, I don’t think there is anyway you can totally escape the track matte effect. As the body turns, the footage would have to warp to have it continually fill the body without cutting off some of the clip or showing another. Can you actually visualize how the edges of the video should be moving as the body moves?
Perhaps if you had a central line that through the middle of the arm and body etc, you could stick the video edge to that, but thats just a lot of keyframing and manual moving. Plus, if something twists, it’s still going to cut off some of the footage like a track matte would.

Sounds like your on the right track.
I would just make a giant video wall and used the keyed dancer as a track matte. Then take another instance of the keyed dancer and play with its blend mode – maybe multiply – and put it on top of the trackmatte. The problem is that the color is going to have to be dictated by the dancer as it would change as he moves. Because of that, the video wall colors will have to be updated as he moves so no clip can ever really stay the same color.

This isn’t really a wiggle, but it will make what you wrote work. What this will do is stay completely still, unless the audio amplitude is greater than 25. When it is, it will then add that value to its current value. If that is what you want, than this is your solution. If not, please rephrase what you’re looking for.

try extending your camera in your gabba gabba comp and making sure that the logo comp is in the correct 3d position so the camera can see it.

Not sure I totally understand what you’re trying to do, but I would think you should use an your red footage as an alpha matte for the band and have an additional layer of the red footage underneath that.

This is untested, but I think it would do what you’re looking for. Rather than just looking at the x distance from the null, it looks at the y distance also, and takes the total distance into account when determining opacity. In this case, I used the sliders on the Null again so that you can determine your own max and min opacity at any point.

Probably frame by frame painting. They likely just took a video clip, and painted over every frame to match the video, then just removed the video.

I’m surprised the secondary isolated it that well, I had considered that, but really thought there was just too much red. I think that’s what I’ll have to do though. I realized after the fact that it was the backlight shining through my ears that caused it, ha.
