I have a secondary machine that I am following these updates and testing, not my primary production box copy. For those who may not be aware, there is really nothing new in the last two Magix updates, build 543 and 545, other than rebranding and some loss of functionality of some add-on’s!! If you have the latest Sony build 453, it would be better to stick with it until maybe version 14 and even then, I would recommend installing the trial version first and test it out, unless you have already purchased the free upgrade deal.

I have no doubt Magix will experience some growing pains with it’s first version 14 upgrade, as it has with the update of version 13.

Yesterday I downloaded the latest Vegas Pro 13 from this link… https://dl03.magix.net/trial_vegaspro13.exe?_ga=1.123674443.1170624221.1464039946

This is the trial version Vegas Pro 13 build 545, which when you install it, will recognize you have a previous build and will offer to update your current installation.

I haven’t done a lot of testing with this version other than my Sony scripts along with my extensions work, however beware if you use NewBlue Titler, NewBlue at this time is crashing this update.

As Graham and Jorma have replied. I usually insert a new video track above the main video track for title/text. Then click on that track where I want the title/text to be inserted. The title/text inserted will then be superimposed on the video below.

If you click and select the main video track and insert title/text, the title/text will be inserted into the video track and the background will appear black. That may or may not be what you want.

And, as Graham points out, auto ripple may not the best setting for inserting title/text to be superimposed over a video, as it will move everything that is to the right of insertion the distance right equaling the width of the inserted title/text box, depending on your current ripple setting. If you insert a title/text at say, the beginning of you movie, and want everything pushed right to allow for the space required for the title/text box, then auto-ripple (all tracks, markers and regions) would be a good setting.

Another alternative, process the mp4 through Handbrake before bringing them into Vegas or Movie Studio. Handbrake is a free download and free program. That should solve the problem and you can stay on the platform you are accustom to.

Hi Zachary,

I would use Resolve to make an intermediate file rather than Movie Maker. Render to something like CineForm (avi) which will be considerably larger file than the source, but will maintain most of your resolution. Or, use Handbrake, which may be faster. If it’s just this one source file, I would go with the program I was familiar with, which in your case sounds like Resolve.

Perhaps I can help, although I do understand this may be taking a risk. “Hi wwaag, it’s all clear, you don’t want to help“, just an observation, you might be cutting off your nose to spite your face,. Wayne didn’t say he didn’t want to help, he replied he was reluctant to provide help, for what appears to be good cause. He did ‘save your life” providing a script and instructions in a previous post request you made. No one else did, Wayne did, and you have never replied and provided any acknowledge of Thank You for his help.

A gracious and sincere Thank You would go a long way to establish a relationship with others who you ask to help when you are in need. I’m pretty broad minded and thick skinned, but I think Wayne’s reply was reasonable and respectful, yet you responded to that with a bit of an attitude.

Please, I hope you will not take my comments above personally, as I offer them in a helpful spirit. For the short two years I have been visiting this forum, Wayne has always been respectful, and very helpful to me and others as well as you. Maybe his factual reply caught you off guard, at a bad moment. Perhaps you would consider rereading it in a new light. I’m sure you really did appreciate the script and instructions he provided you earlier this month. Taking the time to offer some recognition may go a long way. No insults intended, just an opinion from another member who may also want help on scripting in the future, as well.

Hi Kyle,

The easiest way is most likely as Paul suggest, make your splits, then create a sub-clip of the part you want to stabilize, stabilize it, then delete the original part you split and replace it with the sub-clip.

I’m sure you realize when you apply stabilization the end result will be zoomed in compared to the original. Depending on where you make your splits (cuts) and how much stabilization you apply, the jump from the non-stabilized section to the stabilized section and back again, may be quite jarring. Best to find a scene change to make the splits on.
