HEEEEYYYY! That sounds like a great idea! Thanks again and I really mean it, you guys are one of the best resources for film makers in the world! I will give it a go! It is just one branch in the shot! BUT, that will also help with some grass that is just a bit too green.

Thanks Dave, greatly appreciated. This is our 9 th feature so I certainly do understand. Anyone on our set knows that it is taboo to say “fix it in post”. Unfortunately when you are on a budget and a dealine you do waht you have to do. The trees almost never bloom this early. We were scheduled to shoot the week before (actor problem). So, re-shooting or waiting until next year could not be done. Even considered stripping the tree but the location would not allow. I believe I can get away with it (apple blossoms look like snow)but I always want it just right. So I will mask and composit before we consider waitng until next year (we have a distribution deal for this Holiday season) Thanks again for the advice though. You guys are a treasure to film makers.

Without a doubt this is the best forum in the world. Thank you both. I am doing the mix myself (Director)because, as usual, budget does not allow for a pro like you guys (one day it will!). Most all of the tracks I am panning are the same dialog track from the same actor. I almost never overlap. But, I am having to use multiple tracks of the same thing to bring the audio up in almost everycase. If a character says “how are you” I am taking the one track and duplicating it and laying it below to bring levels up. Probably not the best way but getting the actors together will be impossible. If I center pan several of the same tracks am I still inviting phasing? I had a problem with that last year on a different project. Would that have caused my original problem. Some lines missing panned to the left. While all others were panned to the right or both right and left? Thanks again and you have already told me what I originally need to know. I am learning more all the time.

Thanks so much Ty, I did notice several stereo locked pairs were one left one right. When I got them back from another editor. I can unlock them but some of the rest was just panned right or left. I will just center them. Would you leave those or keep panned center. Music the same? Thanks again

I do appreciate your words. I never expected anyone to push the buttons. But (as someone who deals with training and helping novie people all the time) some of the answers (just some)are vague at best and assume that you know a heck of a lot! A step by step on this process would be great for fimmakers. Tom had mentioned that you can find this info everywhere? But no one could just point me to the answers? If it is in the manual I sure couldn’t find it. Probably is, just me. Do not, take this as anything but gratitude. I will take it from here. Your help has been great.

Yes, you absolutely did! I actually noticed I had written that wrong right as your email came through! I meant I can not hard pan on 3-4. It pretty much locks me out when I choose mono for 1-2 and stereo for 3-4. Do you think if it is center panned it will still work? Is there a way for me to get in? When I set it in settings to 1-2 mono and 3-4 stereo I then get the following in mixer. 1-2 panned center and set at 12 on the slides. I get 3-4 center panned and set at 0 on the slides. No way for me to pan right or left on any. Sorry about the mis-quote. Did not mean to quote you wrong. I really appreciate all of your help. I understnd very well how it is dealing with someone (I train new people on set all the time) who just doesn’t know all he should about things but I learn everytime I come here!

Thanks and I am sure it is. I actually have been pouring through the manual. But, things are not always as easy as that (I am sure you know). This has been an incredible hard answer. I know many filmmakers face this question when getting ready to send a drive for dubbing. There is no place that gives a simple step by step to exporting separated dialog and M&E (that I can find and I have looked and looked). I am just VERY grateful for this forum! But, I still can not find how to export these tracks into two separate tracks? I did exactly as was mentioned and I still got tracks 1-2 mixed with 3-4. I have it set for 2 audio outputs (when I got in it was set for 2). When I tried to set the setting as David mentioned I can not. When set in mono for track 1-2 I can not hard pan left and right.

Hi Tom, I really don’t mean to sound so ignorant. But, could you be a bit more specific. Control click where? I tried it at the head of the mixer track. Nothing. Tried it in the head of the sequence track, nothing. Tried it in the sequence settings. Nothing. What track are you refering too? I appreciate your help and do not mean to frustrate. So, how do you right click and optical Mac mouse? Just curious?

Hi Tom, I am using a Mac with an optical mouse. Is there another way to right click or open or select the track? When set as I have it now in mixer the two mono tracks are all the way up the 2 stereo tracks are slid down about a third. The pans are locked center and can not be accessed. This is in mixer. Should I be in selection settings? Thanks
