I think it depends how much you change the speed. If you use a low amount it can behave properly. But when you crank it up it flips out.

Software with no bugs. Reselect the area you want to remain 100 per cent and under the retiming menu select normal again. Only workaround I’ve found.

Curious if this happened after using the opacity slider to create a picture fade then changed your mind and moved it back to zero. I had this happen and found I had to replace the clip in order for the one black frame at the end of the clip to disappear.

When I examined the info on a FCPX clip I imported from an AVCHD file, it says it’s 1920×1080 H.264, Linear PCM, Timecode. Seems it’s still in it’s original codec with a quicktime movie wrapper.

I’ve had the same behavior where suddenly I’m hearing audio without seeing any representation of any audio clip in the timeline only to discover it was hiding behind a video clip. I only discovered it after deleting the video clip. Other times I’ve witnessed an audio clip in front of a video clip and I had to reconnect it to get it to behave.

I agree. But I would add that for me “intuitive” is something that would rely on “common knowledge,” things learned by a vast majority of the population. So from past learning you know to click with a mouse, drag and drop and so on.

A huge problem with X is it’s NOT intuitive to anyone who has ever edited on any other piece of editing software. You have to rethink, relearn and struggle to use it. It may be more intuitive to a novice, but even there I think it is a steep learning curve to acquire the deep toolset hidden from view on initial contact.
