You should also be aware that the DNX codec does not support Alpha channels. Found that out the hard way. I spoke to the Avid codec people at NAB and they said at that time that they did not know when the codec would support alphas.

Tried the Right-Click and save as and I get a file winzip and win rara doesn’t recognize. If someone has it, please repost it someplace so more can have access. Thanks.

    Hi D,
Tried to D/L the zip, but no joy. Can you send a direct D/L link? Thanks.

    Hi Greg,
Try this link: https://www.blackmagic-design.com/support/software/ I’m pretty sure there is a DVCpro codec in this package and it’s free. Hope that helps.

  • Thanks Ed,
But that did not work for me. I still get the same error message on batch submission. Any other ideas?

April 5, 2006 at 10:48 am in reply to: 24P workflow question

    Hi Dave,

So I’m assuming my capture preset is correct. We do have a GRFX package being produced at the moment. No specifics on it at the moment. I am wondering, if we edit the sequence in a 23.98 timeline, and then nest the finished edit into a 29.97 timeline and then add GRFX, is that a viable work-around? assuming the GRFX are produced @ 2997. If not, how would you suggest removing and adding the pulldown? Anything else you can think of that we should know? Greatly appreciate your input.

Yes, I know, however I have an immediate need for the codec now and apparently the source files from Avid allow you to compile the codec. My problem is not having a programming background, so I no clue as to how to compile the file. So if anyone does, your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

February 18, 2006 at 2:58 am in reply to: editors’ agents?

While I agree with what Alan says concerning agents “I prefer to look at my agent as a partner in my career” One thing I would say is that you should make sure you shop around for an agent and not go with the first one that offers to take you on. I had an agent a few years ago whom I really liked, but had clients who were always late in making their net 30 payments. One of their clients, with whom I spent 6 weeks full time on a project finally paid after 150 days! And that was the third client in a row that did that.

After the last one, I decided to use my own networking skills and have never been out of work since. So take your time and interview the agent as much as they are interviewing you.

    Good luck,

    Gene M. Patrick
