    Hi all,
When I try to submit a batch to Compressor 2, I keep gettting this warning in the Batch window: “Cannot submit batch-Unable to connect to background process” In the Batch window, I noticed that in the cluster drop-down window, it says “none available” and there are no other options there. Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks for your help in advance.

I think there is a preference in the User-Library-Preferences folder for the Batch Processor…delete that and try again.

    Sorry,
I don’t have the time right at the moment to find my file on my other computer that details
how to fix this, but if you type the exact term (the whole warning) into Google you’ll find tons of links to forums
that discuss it (with fixes I hope). It’s a common problem. I have a fix that worked for me.
There are a few different solutions. I’ll check back in a while, if you haven’t found the answer I’ll
    find my file.

I’m back (I found it easier than I thought). Here the fix for the problem in v1, I think it’s
the same as the fix for v2.
    HTH,

In Finder, Go, Go to folder
    type /etc/
    view as icons
locate “hostconfig” and COMMAND click on file and drag to desktop.

    Thanks Ed,
But that did not work for me. I still get the same error message on batch submission. Any other ideas?

No, sorry. It worked for me so I didn’t look any further for an answer. Did you do a search?
There are tons of posts about this. I’m just not sure if the answer is in all those posts.

ok, so the easy solution to this problem is to download the Apple Compressor 2.1 update from their site, then apply even if you are already updated, just redo it, and you’ll be good to go. No restart, no jive. Keep this update on your machine for the future as this problem will crop up again. Dunno why this hasn’t been fixed, it’s only been a year…
