Hi Eric,
I don’t know if you have taken care of this, but you can email me at gene@g-technology.com and we can see what we can do.

Have you tried using the USB port? If it also does it on the USB port it most likely is an issue with one of the drives in the unit. I would recommend a data recovery company and replacement of your drive.

Did you cycle the power by turning the drive off and back on? That is necessary for the update to work.

Hi Kim,
There is a G-RAID update on there as well, I believe it is the 4th one down, says G-RAID v5. If your G-RAID has one USB 3 port and 2 Firewire 800 ports, then this update would be for that model.

Hi Kim,
Thanks for your post. Which G-RAID model do you have, is it the USB 3.0 version? If so, the disconnecting issue you are seeing may possibly be addressed with a firmware update. Here is a link to the firmware updates: https://support.g-technology.com/support/firmware-updates

Hi Neal,
Thanks for your post. Have you checked your Finder Preferences to see if the box to show external drives on desktop is checked?

July 3, 2014 at 7:28 pm in reply to: G-Tech G-Speed eS RAID Single Drive Failure – How Should I Replace The Failed Drive?Hi Jim,
Thanks for your post. The drive should be on when replacing the defective drive, and should automatically go into rebuild mode. The way to identify the defective drive is the port is the second number in the location and the drive is the third, so port 3, drive 2. One thing that concerns me is the drive status is disabled, which indicates something beyond a single drive failure. Does the drive mount? If so, copy the data off right away. There may be another failure in the set. You could also try a new cable as that could be part of the issue, or try swapping drives into your other enclosure. Please let me know if you have any questions. If you like, my direct contact is eugene.gilbert@hgst.com

Hi Franz,
Keep the unit running when you replace the drive, it should go into a rebuild automatically. Could you send me a photo of the front of the unit so I can see the light conditions. My email is eugene.gilbert@hgst.com

Hi Franz,
Thanks for your post. Which enclosure light is illuminated? Do the lights blink in an alternating sequence between the amber drive light and the red enclosure light? If so it is indicating an array rebuild. Please let me know if you have any questions.
