  • Hi Jose,

I believe the G-SPEED Q would be better suited for your workflow.

  • Hi Jose,

Thanks for your post. I do not believe the 1144U supports RAID 5, but the RR644L will. Your G-SPEED eS will require a RAID capable card. Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Hi Kim,

Thanks for the info. It sounds like it was a directory issue. When I first read your post, the description of the behavior was the same as I have seen with the G-DRIVE and we have a firmware update for. What is the other drive you are having issues with? You can send me the serial number for that as well.

  • Hi JohnBen,

Thanks for your post. The error you are seeing is a general I/O error. Does this happen if you copy in the other direction? There may be a firmware update that could possibly address this. Please contact me at eugene.gilbert@hgst.com with the model number and serial number of the drive and we can take it from there. Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Hi Amy,

Thanks for your post. When did the drive start exhibiting this issue? What connection are you using to connect on the MacbookPro? Did you try the other ports on the G-SPEED Q on the desktop computer, and what type is the computer? Have you tried other drives on the suspect computer? Please let me know if you have any questions.

  • Hi Colin,

Thanks for your post. Your G-SPEED eS can be used with a Thunderbolt adapter as long as the HBA card is Thunderbolt-aware. As it turns out, the RAID card that shipped with your G-SPEED eS is the RocketRaid 2314, which is NOT Thunderbolt-aware. You could use a card such as the 644L, which is TB-aware, and as it is a Highpoint product, the RAIDset should be compatible. This way you could leave the 2314 card in your current MacPro, install the 644L in a Thunderbolt expansion chassis to use with your RAID5 array, and you would be able to move the RAID between the two systems. Please let me know if you have any questions.

  • Hi Leigh,

Does the volume (the indented line) show up in Disk Utility, but greyed out as well? If so, it may be a directory issue that DiskWarrior may be able to repair and allow your drives to mount. You may also contact me direct at eugene.gilbert@hgst.com if you like.
